You're right about 5 seconds. CS did a huge purge of some fantastic people, and it has never been the same in the forums.There are wonderful people here now, but the quantity is lower.

Sadly I cannot help to wonder how long the forums can survive this. If I am not mistaken we are supported by advertisers. 
We need new blood so to say 
new ideas. New topics, Possibly even new attitudes for some (dare I say) I see people try and bring fun back to the forums. Time after time the threads just die. This is not just here, it is all over the internet. A small group post, their main purpose is to try to be entertaining and it goes awry so many times that after a while it is just the same old ones posting. And then even they post less and less.

probably too many "WOKE" Advertisers,since they are more or less determine the content of the site,and would pull their Advertising if they deem the Topics too controversial!There are wonderful people here now, but the quantity is lower.

Yeah, and I miss the good old days about six months ago it seemed like everyone else on cs tried to stick it to me and get me banned for life from here. Such nice people. Carry on...
I believe the slow demise of the forums is due to the evolution of social media. When CS first started social media was in it's infancy. Since then it has changed dramatically, I think Myspace was the thing back then. There became a need for platforms to be more interactive, these days we have X (twiter) tiktoc, snapchat, facebook and many others. CS is dated, past it's sell by date, a sad reflection of what it used to be. But of course...all things must pass.
