yeah positivity is good. good to open up as most people are very understanding, despite what you might fear

Yea very true i hate when you tell people that your depressed and they more or less say that your looking for attention which is completely wrong.

" Manic Depression is a frustrating mess "......Jimi Hendrix.

I hope this cheers you up a bit !

I was so depressed last night that I rang the Samaritans and got through to a call centrein Pakistan.
When I told them I was suicidal they got all excited and asked me if I could fly a plane.

Motivation precedes activation...

I know it may sound silly but is a fact. When the thought of getting out of bed is just to hard and you make yourself do it you do actually feel better. In my case I used to get up and strip the bed so that I wouldnt get back into it for the day.

Have lived with depression for a number of years and am thankfully at the stage where I can recognise the triggers and nip it in the bud. Thats thanks to a few months in hospital and 2 years of cognitive behavioural therapy.

Yeah but i agree with Skinny, its one thing to have it but a totally different thing to stick your head above the parapet and say you have it.

Well done. Hope all works out well for you and hope you have the support of family and friends that you can talk to.

The road to overcoming depression is different for every sufferer and what works for one may not work for the other. I wouldnt immediately dimiss the use of medications.

In most cases a combination of medication and the correct therapy are the route to handling depression.

i don't think biggies giving a thumbs down to medication, just to prozac which his mate tried, and which i can atest to myself. personally i think there's much better medications out there

I realise thats what he meant and didnt mean to sound critical of his post.

Personally I was prescribed a number of different meds before one was found that worked for me. It happened to be prozac, but I realise different meds work for different people.
