RE: Does Socialism Work

I think that pure forms of either capitalism or socialism don't work. Ideally what is needed is a hybrid system in which government butts out until it needs to intervene.
A socialist society is a dissincentive to productivity and encouragses laziness and an invitation to the useless to live off the state and get every handout that is possible.
A purely capitalist is a system devoid of regulation and we have seen what no regulation has done for us......the banks were left to their own devices for years and they have ruined us.
The best system is a system where labour and entrepreneurial spirit is rewarded and where the government helps those who need help.

I am not convinced by your conspiracy theory about the Israeli state and their so called leaking of the letters. As far as i am aware some blogger started looking into it and posted the story on his blog. Norris's campaign team got wind of it and confronted Norris and it was Norris who released the letters to John Drennan in the Sunday Indo, the Israeli state had nothing to do with it. I stand corrected if i am wrong but thats my understanding of the chain of events.

David Norris

Here is what he has done now, several of his campaign team have resigned. The letters are on a link within the news piece.

Seems like tomorrow will be an interesting day in the life of presidential hopeful David Norris, Is it a witch hunt or is Norris beginning to look really bad with everything that is coming out?

RE: txt messages

I never sent a text message to the wrong person but i've had something happen which was just as embarrassing if not more.
I was using an old phone belong to my sister.....unfortunately my sister didn't delete all her old text messages. There were texts there from her to her husband. It was a very uncomfortable moment when i saw that text.....needless to say i didn't read the rest and deleted them as fast as i could.

It shall never be mentioned to my sister. uh oh

RE: Just to keep us entertained....

Just reading through the thread, one thing stands out more than anything else. We are all unique, what goes for one may not be for another.

Course thats the best part of a relationship, getting to know things that are unique and individual to the person you are with. Keeps us on our toes. wow

RE: Kids brought up in single parent households

Totally agree thumbs up

RE: Kids brought up in single parent households

Can you post this for everyone else to read if its online?

RE: Kids brought up in single parent households

There are many great single parents out there and going on what you say you are one of them.
However the studies do seem to suggest that there are more behavioral problems, social problems, truancy and under achievement in school in single parent households.
There are exceptions of course and its not a black and white issue, just because you are a single parent doesn't mean your child will have problems. A lot is down to the parent who is the primary carer. How both parents get on and whether there is friction also dictates how a child does.
Stability, either in a one parent or two parent household, is what is most important.

RE: Kids brought up in single parent households

And two good parents is better than one good parent.

Expert opinion seems to agree.

RE: Just to keep us entertained....

Totally agree. thumbs up That's why i never assume anything. Assumptions are never a good basis for a relationship.

RE: Just to keep us entertained....

Here is one,well three actually.

Don't assume that all men are the same. if a bloke messed you around before then don't insult my intelligence by assuming i will.

And stop telling us how much you have been messed around before by guys because we are only hearing one side.....maybe you weren't blameless either. Also many of us have messed around by girls before so the concept of being messed around isn't a foreign one to us so stop treating us as if it is a totally alien concept to us.

And finally women aren't the only ones who like to feel special and loved and be surprised (in a nice way) in a relationship. Being romantic is a two way street ladies.

RE: Just to keep us entertained....

thumbs up Well said
