I was going to test sending a mail from my phone but can't even find my phone, never mind the send button 
so will try it out later when I do eventually find my phone

I know someone else who would misplace her phone. I'd have to call it so she could follow the ringing

Raynew and Liebe Your advice is good in theory.. but 
I can be a bit of a scatterbrain so when I put my phone on silent when I go to 
I forget to turn it on sometimes as soon as I wake up
Also, at work I'm not supposed to have my phone on me. But, I also put it onto silent there. Then forget to turn it on when I leave sometimes. I neve have it on vibrate either as that can be heard if I'm asleep or at work.
I really will have to work something out about the problem of me keeping misplacing it though, as it's happening too often Two weeks ago I lost it for three whole days. Turns out the cockatiel had thrown it down back of a chest of drawers and I only found out it by chance when I shifted them to fish out one of his toys that he'd also thrown down there
Other places I lose it are it becomes trapped in my bedding or falls down side of cushion on sofa or falls under the bed.
I might have to put it on a piece of string and hang it around my neck. Then I'll resemble a cow with a cowbell round my neck
