To me! safety comes first.....Coz If one of the CS group should get involved or even be in the wrong place at the wrong time.....God knows where he or she may end up..............just a tought........

U know Null.s it aint that the coffee shops and what ever else is there, its the crowd that comes there for it....mostly peeps that cant handel the stuff, get so stoned that trouble starts....
This information comes from a upfront friend that is a Cop there..... I mean we maybe just in a place where we shouldnt be... dont get me wrong Amsterdam is Fabulous, but being tourisits that are the most vunerable, and we all know,,,O´H! lets have some fun , lets give it a shot...It wouldnt be the first nor the last that ended up in the IC or even in a Body bag.......
Amsterdam has thousands of fab places where CS's can meet and still ahve a great time, But for the sake of Safty I do recomend that the place should be elsewhere....

I don't like Leidseplein because it's just too hip and happening for me, so I'm going to spread as much fear-mongering propaganda as possible to get my own way and have the event where I want it... Rembrantplein where the restaurants are much less friendly and actually impossible to reserve for a large group without putting down a deposit (yes, I did check there)... as well as being too far from the clubs (including world-known Jimmy Woo... frequented by the likes of George Clooney) with live music some members might want to visit after our event's venue closes.
A single incident happened after 4 am at the taxi area of Leidseplein between a group of young men who got into a fight. Big surprise. THat happens everywhere... and wow one of them had a knife and used it on the other man in the group fighting. This didn't involve anyone outside of the group of aggressive, likely drunk, young men who decided to have a pissing contest after a long night partying.
And how many of you are planning to be out til after 4 am? The place I reserved closes at 1 am... long before the club crowds start walking the streets drunk heading for home. I have actually gone out in Leidseplein several times in the past year(including New Years), and not once have I seen the kind of violence mentioned or even a big fight. And I was walking through between 4 am and 6 am.
We'll be fine. The expat Meetup group holds events in this location throughout the year, every year, and there hasn't been a single problem. Ever.
P.S. There are some tasty-looking expat singles (aged 30+) interested in joining our event (male and female). They just love going out in Leidseplein for socializing. Pan did some networking outside CS this weekend.
Hang on just because of one incident in an area you don't want to go with a group of people from what I understand of the place its a great night out and no this is not from Carenza or Pandora my boss is Dutch and he would recommend it happily for anyone from out of town who want somewhere where there is a good vibe etc in fact he took my ex-colleague out for a night out there and he's an uptight Austrian.
Ladies if you go around with this attitude you will end up going nowhere... Remember that number 1 is that there is a mixed group and to be honest I would rather go somewhere like this as it will be more fun... Throw a bit of spice into your life... I won't even be drinking so I will know everyone has got home okay (some of us have an 8 hour motorbike ride the next morning).
Also if you are so worried about it why didn't you arrange a get together then ??? At least they are trying to get something together... To arrange something like this is hard work I know I have done similar in the past... and to find somewhere that everyone is happy in is impossible and from what I understand this all comes from one Incident Polly hell in London that happens every 5 minutes and in New York they use Guns but people still go out... So stop selling scare stories... This is supposed to be a good night out for everyone...

Incidents, accidents,......... happens everywhere, ask me about it.
We have had a nigthtmare in my city with the drug cartels and other criminals but it looks like things are getting under control.
We just had a Cultural Festival and we had police and soldiers all over the city and in the roofs of the buildings so we were enjoying the concerts and events with all that survey around.....
On the other side, I have been at the coffe shops in Amsterdam and I do not even smoke nor do I any drugs. I was there with some friends just to see the coffee shops.
Thanks PandoraX for your time and effort and I am glad it is going to be in Amsterdam (love it!). it is to early for me to know if I will go but I am keeping an eye on this CS meeting.
