JAN_is: Well aggressiveness in any form doesn´t do it for me whatsoever. Gentle and romantic are good, but a date, or a first date, should be simply a meeting of minds and a little physical chemistry to be successful.
That´s a starting point for me anyway.
Uh-huh May I remind you what melts your knees at the end of a date? A guy that aggressively goes for a big kiss or timid wimpy peck on the cheek? There are times when I like my man to be aggressive

Ah well your definition of aggression is very different from mine, Aggression means actively hostile. Perhaps assertive and confident would be better terms to use.
I would also disagree with your definition of a "wimpy peck". The initially more shy and polite men are very often the gold at the end of the rainbow........when you finally get down to business!

Then I guess we like different types I like strong masculine men who know how to be tender and when to be aggressive. Not in any "hostile" definition but definately when it comes to stepping up to the plate on being kissed. I like a man who wraps me up and kisses me deeply and passionately. Leaves my knees wobbly.

So...that doesn't mean whacking you across the knees with a baseball bat???

You're assertive. I think people get messed up (and respond inappropriately because of it) when they can't tell the difference between assertive and aggressive behavior.
