Grateful Dead had a lady in the band for a while named Donna Jean Godchaux or something like that. I think she had a solo career playing Dead songs too. She's a cross between Maryanne Faithful and Joni Mitchell. Groovy man. this was my favorite song from a home made casette tape of the Terrapin album that I bought in a garage sale.

She's talking about a man in this song. I was never sure if he was the Christian God or a shaman or a Pagan god or what. i kind of imaging Elrond and Legolas and all the other groovy elves when I hear this song but that's just me. Or Odin, or a Native American guru, or a hippie guru, or someone like that.

The Grateful Dead cover a Shadows of Knight song. They were from around here.

Witchaywoman: Gnarly. I was born in 71. I wish my parents would have taken us. They were too square. But they were hippies. Mega hippies.

They just devoted their lives to gardening and books instead of music. They played a lot of Pete Seeger and The Beatles, The Doors. The Stones, Ravi Shankar, Frank Zappa, etc, at home.
they were good back ol hippie days on all/deadheads too lol.

This is not difficult. Do you mean difficult to understand, or difficult as in annoying?

Witchaywoman: I bet all the deadheads are out in parks throwing frizbees.

Hey! Not so! I resent that! I fly kites (seriously am an avid kite flyer)

But anyways, in 1972/3 at their peak - was 15/16 then, and a few friends & I used to traverse the record bars after school. These record shops (in SA) were traditionally in shoping centers basements - and quickly become known as Underground Dens and acquired the monicker, Underground Music!
So we used to listen & bought the records of that era - Grateful_Dead, Frank Zappa, Grandfunk (my Fav), Led Zep, The Who, Hydra, Dada, The Mahavishnu Orchestra, Uriah Heep, etc!
I still have my records & have transferred to CD now - but yea! We were also hit by the Hippie lyfestyle/faze then & I still like it - have one leg in the 70's still & one in 2011.
I still grow my own weed, my ex used to make those lovely Jewellery of that time! I've lost my hair though but not those wonderful memories! cool

Groovy Elmoyra. I have their old records and two record players. And I added to the collection. I love Frank Zappa, The Doors, and Bob Dylan. I also have their stained glass stuff. I'm a "stuff piggie." I end up with all of everyone's stuff. I also have groovy Dawn Dolls and a few vintage troll dolls. Love groovy stuff!
