Glastonbury, arguably the worlds most diverse and successful festival kicks off in earnest today. Looking at the pics the infamous 'Glasto mud' is very much in evidence once again. Not that it dampens the spirits of the 150,000 revelers who have paid around £200 to be part of this quite unique annual event.
I've always thought, everyone should be part of 'the Glastonbury experience' at least once in their lives.
Have you ever been to a outdoor music festival...what were your experiences?

seems fun... during the 80`s I was working on a surface coal mining as maintenance of machinery and we use to get stuck in mud quite often so we had to dig out our boots ...

I used to go to see the Reading Festival on a regular basis when i was a young whipper snapper.
I remember being filmed at maybe 10am by a film company as the weather was terrible that weekend, and the organisers gave out plastic bags to wear (The rain was torrential).
I think from memory it was 1985, and the sun came out, and myself and a guy called Ian McDonald turned into sort of a 2 man ice machine...so much steam came out of us!
But my main memory was watching "Killing Joke" at approx 10pm, and the heavens opened yet again, so i went for cover near a food stand.
I huddled and sat on the side of the vendors vehicle, whereupon a nice member of staff remarked that i was actually sitting on the HOTPLATE.
That's how cold and wet i was...i didn't notice i was trying to cook my own backside....
I was stunned. This was in Florida, USA. We carried in a large Watermelon to watch the show. Why does food taste so good at Festivals? Much to do with the excitement I think.

Talking about food at festivals, I remember back in 1972 we ran a bacon sarnie stall at the Bickershaw Festival. Nothing else but bacon sarnies, we had trouble keeping up, non stop frying for three days and nights.
