galrads: You have to also believe what you just wrote is bull utter nonsense. in my humble opinion.
No one ever gave me chit. I worked hard for what I gained and consider successful. So, I should give to others less motivated slackers because someone else says I should.
That ideology is NUTS.
I believe we should help those who can't help themselves or who's families can't or those w/o family and helpless. But no more free rides. I don't know why the U.S. let non property owners vote. NUTS

I don't disagree with no free rides.
I do believe in the welfare of those who have become dependent on living a meager life and yes!! they too contributed!!!And just because someone does not own land can't vote???? you sir are asking for a communist country and you don't even see it. That statement is so ignorant, or maybe you do believe that being a citizen of the USA is not good enough To vote??

Dadude62: Well there is Alaska.

If that is doable,,I will be scuba diving in ketchikan bay and visiting a good friend that has a place there. Tell me please what would be different about Alaska? Different escape route?? LOL,,,,no, I am serious. please tell me about Alaska and how it would be better? BTW I agree with your other response about voting.

onecountryboy: We've had the Dems in charge, we've had the Reps in charge. Show me a difference in anything but the talking points.
Who are these people that are always in the polls? And more importantly who should care what they say?
My friend it is my opinion that the only truly stupid people in our nation are the ones who side with one party over the other because they do so in opposition to the fact that neither party does the average Jane or Joe a darned bit of good. Like I said above both parties say what their base wants to hear and then does nothing.
Have you seen how much money our pres has raised for his reelection? And who gave it to him. All big money people. Do you honestly beleive they have given him this money because he is going to raise their taxes. It's all a dog and pony show.

I agree with many points you make but one big difference is that repubs have favored tax cuts for the rich which was supposed to increase jobs (We should be inundated with jobs at this point) and dems want to shift some of this wealth back to the lesser classes.

I tried to present my point of view on another thread and was attacked by a guy who said I should stop wining and that there was work available for anyone who wanted it. I asked him where and he said Alaska. What I'm not clear about.

Dadude62: Yes give that entitlement loot to the superrich and and our nation will become more prosperous.

Smoke and mirrors......Tax the rich.....sock it to em......

The real problem.....every year we make less and less of the widgets that we made the year before....while the worker is not trained fast enough to keep up with new tech that far surpasses the loss of manufacturing where he might have worked the year before....the result.....more and more unemployment and longer terms of unemployment while the country runs up massive trade deficits because we have to rely on other countries to sell us what we dont make anymore.....it is a race to the bottom my friends and pretty soon everyone will depend on the government for more and more hand outs. That is the lot for the biggest debtor nation in the world and as we lose more manufacturing it just gets worse as competition for the meager jobs left for the poor people that did not look far enough ahead to understand that the industry that was there yesterday is not there tomorrow. We may never see 5 to 6% unemployment rates again on a nation wide basis{which has historically been known as full employment.} Higher taxes for the rich would just be a short term solution at best.As the mega rich incur more tax their capital tends to flee to nations that are more friendly to them,so that is not a long term solution....it will just make the transition to the bottom faster.Loss of the manufacturing base is the biggest problem.

Personally, I think it's all theatrics. He's threatenng social security and medicare cuts and that's just what it is, a threat to make it look like he was the hero that solved all the problems. He will have the same speech he had with the bailouts for the banks making promises that he can't keep. Obama isn't the only problem, it's the people around him who are advising him. The only good one in his cabinet IMO is Hillary Clinton and that's because she's not in the white house on a daily basis to deal with him.

Agreed. However I'm not in favor of "socking it to the rich" but we have socked it to the middle class and the poor. I do believe in graduated income tax and that we should go back to let's say the rates we had under Clinton. While the world is becoming one I think we could have slowed the job loss to foreign countries with proper tarifs. A slower transition to one world economy rather then pulling the rug from underneath the American workers.
You said it, the poor didn't look far enough. Exactly right. Question is why not? Some say that they're lazy, on the take, generally no good. I think it's because of a variety of reasons, poor upbringing, lower intellectual levels, undereducation, mental conditions, lower talent levels, stupidity, mistakes, etc. So what to do. Let them starve, die, Take the point of view that we are no different from animals and that it's a game of survival of the fittest? Some of the tough guys on this site do take that position. Or can we as humans rise above that. Not take their social security and medicare. Share the enormous wealth that we do have a bit better through proper tax rates. I get accused of being Idealist and out of tough with reality by these tough guys. LOL

So you agree that tax cuts favoring the rich hasn't produced those jobs promised and that government should have left the tax rates as they were before Reagan? You agree that government meddling since Reagan has been detrimental to the lesser classes.
I'll say that Obama bailing out the fat cats (creating their jobs) and not increasing Social Security benefits two years in a row has been a disappointment.

My point my friend is the parties SAY they want to do this or that but when they actually are in a postition to do what they say they don't do it. I don't care what the Dem party says. It is going to just maintain the status quo. The same people that give the Rep party it's money give the Dems money. Neither party is going to slit it's own throat and change anything.
