chocolateflavour: Some are better loved from a distance for a while anyway.
Besides, love doesn't really know the difference.

very nice statement...thumbs up

though, in my opinion, the problem is that, in some cases, love in a mature age is synonim to convenience and fear of loneliness and then the distance is a breaker...

The best thing to do is to ask what the guy's intentions are. If he likes you back then I would recommend going to see this man. It seems the best way to know if you are going to be compatible with this person is if you are around him. See how you feel and pay attention to your gut feeling. I am in a similar situation with a girl who lives in California and I am all the way over in New York. The only difference is that I know she has feelings for me. I wish you happiness and I hope this guy helps you feel happy.

it seems it is so. too many opportunities i could have with someone - except none of them were on my side of the globe.

Ocee35: You're not dating until you've met face to face.

rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

There's a lot of people on here that would say that your wrong on that count, I'm one of them. It does take a bit of commitment on both sides, but in the end it comes out.

and unfortunately, commitment can be a fickle thing. even outside of a long distance dating.

Agreed 100%, but when it's right and you both know whats expected from each it can be a wonderful thing.

I did it for 6 years with a guy I met online. After about a year we met and visited each other 2 or 3 times a year. Worked out well, ended up dating for 11 and a half years.

Takes a lot of trust, commitment, and a great long distance plan :) Certainly possible in my experience if both parties are willing to put in the effort.

Long Distance dating Can and Does Work...
It is a challenge but if honesty, sincerity, love and attraction is there why not?? Agree to meet at some point in the future that is mutually agreeable.
Great things often have small beginnings, and distance should not be a negative to those who truly are serious and in love. Nothing is impossible so just Go Ahead..And Do It..!! In Life we often only have one shot at the real thing.
My Spin on that subject..!!

but i think people do not let themselves fall inlove with someone that they probably can love because of the distance. they wont give it a chance. its infernally irritating.

In response to: Can someone, anyone enlighten this lummox here please? How can I tell that we are now actually "dating"? or still just flirting. What are the rules? Or the usual things that happen? What to look out for to ensure that he is really interested in me and not just a loafer with nothing else to do or someone needing to boost his ego? Too many questions i know but hey, this is a relationship and dating lummox writing here so please forgive.

your post is truly eloquent.

i hope long distance relationships work since im not having much luck here.

Well thats something that both need to work on. A simple I love you or a flower that is only for you says a lot, it's always the simplest of things that mean the most to me anyways...Good luck

hey thanks. - i've heard the "i love you" a couple of times before. only to learn that its just a way to fill their spare time. i sometimes think it is easier to do this when online dating coz there's that barrier there. no physical contact, so easy to lie.
