Godsgift: That's because you live in Dublin and without fail, every time they see another meet being arranged, the Dubs put on one of their own to collide with it. A Dublin meet can be arranged a day before whereas Donegal has to be arranged months in advance. With Dublin being the main population centre people will obviously choose it over Cork or Donegal given a last minute choice. What it is is down right selfishness.

AAh would you ever give it over GG, if your off to 1 of the other meets hope you have a ball and same to everyone who attends, as Macca said people can go wherever they wanna go, personally I dont go 2 the other meets round the country cause I got young kids and do have to get a babysitter for a night out in Dub and need to be back later on that night for the. Im out in Dub most weekends and if I feel like putting out the feelers on here for a group of dubs to meet up then I will or is there a rule about it??? I'll tell you what though, im far from being a downright selfish person, maybe if I was 1 id make arrangments on FB which would then exclude the possibilities of any new dub members attending conversing

xxmissuniquexx: I dont live in Cork, I live in Dublin, no offence to the Cork meet but I dont see what it has to do with a meet being organised in Dub 2 wks after the Cork 1

That's not very fair on the people organising the Cork and Donegal meets is it? It will undermine these meets!blues

im all for as many meets as possible it gives people a chance to attend one when they can either afford to go, get time of work, make arrangements for sitters etc.. or perhaps just fancy a night out..

am just curious tho is ur meet just for the dubs as u stated there?? and if u were to post it to fb and not here then tech its not a cs meet its just a night out for u and ur friends conversing

I agree, why people have to be so argumentative over someone on a site that is meant to connect people trying to actually do something that will acheive just that is beyond me.There are no limts to the locations or amount of meets people want to arrange or attend.

As you can see from the OP no one is being excluded.

The fact remains it undermines the meets held throughout the country.

Apologies MF, just got a lil bit carried away with myself there after GG mentioned the word Dublin so many times. Any get together in the Dublin area are open to all CS users and their mates and whoever else they fancy bringing along. Any ive been to so far have included people from outside Dublin. I dont intend my open invitations to cause anyone any offence or to interfere with any other meets. Im just a lil bit of a party animal and id have 1 every wkendf if I had my way dancing .

But just to refer back to my OP, its a thread to put the feelers out for a drinking session approx 6 wks away for anyone who feels they'd like to join in thats all handshake Maybe you can make this 1 yourself dunno

Trying to insult my intelligence will not make me come around to your way of thinking. I am not getting into a silly argument over this. The point of the site is for single people to connect and the more of that the happens the better.

Can I ask do you have any intention of attending any of the meets available on the site at the moment or organising 1 yourself??

If you had 2 wait for a month when there was none at all id never be able to get a Dublin meet organised conversing

The more meets going on around the country the better would be my opinion. Gives more people the chance to attend 1 depending on location, finances, babysitting requirements etc etc JMO

Not trying to insult your intelligence just pointing out that you've just had a meet in Dublin, there's one in Donegal next month and then one in Cork the month after that, that seems a fair distribution to me. But then you go and say you want one in Dublin between the Donegal and Cork meets! how could that NOT undermine the Donegal and Cork meets?
You already have the advantage of living in the biggest population centre and that gives you a major advantage over people living elsewhere, why not let them have a fair crack of the whip? especially as Donegal and Cork are at extreme ends of the country.

If you keep having meets in Dublin then nobody from Dublin is going to bother ever going to ones down the country, why would they!

Hiya Snowy. I get what you are saying but I honestly think it's a circle that can't be squared. From a selfish point of view I enjoy the increasing regularity of the Dublin 'meets'. I would go out for a few pints most Saturday nights so the only extra expense for me is the bus/ taxi fare in and out of town.

As you know I have gone to 3 country meets over the last 12 months and my own opinion is that there is not a critical mass to sustain them. Those who attend are mainly from the forum and the numbers are not big enough for any BIG meets. It's unreasonable to expect people who know each other, or who want to get to know more, in or around Dublin not to organise a few drinks with each other. dunno

i agree..

country meets suit country peeps..cos no matter where u go..its gonna be a distance..

being a dub..a sat night out once a month is a great treat personally and making new friends in the process..sometimes it has to have a certain regularity to it..

plus some poeple just want the night out..and cant afford the whole night/weekend effect.

You know I travel to some country ones...the Dublin meets don't really affect whether people will travel..I think.
