I agree with you Bode, that things aren't like they used to be.

There is a thread called "Who do you miss.....". I could remember the people I wanted to post but old age lost their names in my brain so I found a way to look at every person who is still a member and posted their names. There are about 283 pages with about 20 names per page. It was time consuming but worth looking at that thread just to see their names again and remember the fun they used to bring to CS.

I think that proves my point, one member in the last couple of weeks. Like I said, intro threads used to be commonplace on here.
I just tried to check your post history to find the thread you mentioned, but of late you can usually only view the first page of someones post history.
Maybe it's just a glitch.

Good to see you again, have been travelling, UK. Italy, Thailand and Philippines then back home to China.
Now missing Italy, really love that country and food to die for, you can only cook rice two ways here, fried or boiled, and easy to get bored lol
But at least is is home now.

venusenvy: True Bodey...I also think its linked to the seasons. It seems the forums are more active in the colder weather (at least thats my perception) They always seem to die out somewhat when the weather is warm. Good to see you Handsome

I don't think so. Take a look at the Aussie forums, they have suffered the same fate as all the other forums and it's their winter.
Anyway I've been on here long enough to know, the decline in the forums isn't due to seasonal reasons.
In all the time I've been on here I've never seen the last post at the bottom of page one consistently around 4-6 hours. Something has dramatically changed on here mainly since the recent changes.
Maybe the success in driving the trolls off here has made the forums less attractive to many. Or maybe many of those new members were indeed trolls with multiple profiles...who knows...dunno

Oh and good to see you lovely lady.

Maaaaybe but I cant see how thats good for advertisers, as we all know controversy sells. But hopefully its just a lull and it will take an upswing soon. One solution might be lifting the bans on some peeps in jail as it seems to be a never ending sentence now. Theres not a lot of point to killing an ant with a hammer JMO dunno sad flower

Exactly, so many undeserved was banned but the guilty remained, that many just left in disgust.
As Body says, it may have been the mods plan so they have less work to do running the forum

Could be Riz, but it makes me question the whole driving ad revenue thing. I was in advertising for many years and this is, to say the least definately a backwards approach and one I cant comprehend. confused dunno

I agree, but maybe the actual hit rate of the ads is higher than we think because the Lurkers use them more than posters, the number of readers of threads is still very high in comparison to the actual posts. Who knows, maybe they BS the advertisers with made up numbers dunno confused

The forums are a very small part of this site yet policing them must take more time and revenue out of the coffers than administering the rest of the site.

Could be more cost effective for them to let the forums decline.
