If I was ashamed of them I probably wouldn't be with them. What exactly are you ashamed of...their looks or their behavior? dunno

For sure, as I think who you choose to be with is a reflection of you and how you value yourself.

I met a woman who described her husband as not being a very nice man - I find that a sad description for a partner. The sadder part is that she is making the choice to still allow that behaviour to be ok. Why do we put up with so much from loved ones and we wouldn't tolerate the behaviours from a stranger? Love and family indeed can be complex relationships at times.

I don't know what motivated you to create this thread but it actually is a thread that might be enlightening.
I know in the past while in distant Countries, Hungary comes to mind. I was seeing a lovely young lady that loved to practice Kung Fu and Jogged quite often. What a lovely memory! Anyway. She and I went to go for a jog on Erzsébet island and from my flat it was not so far but it was through a rather busy area. I angered her accidentally by embarrassing her with my "joking around" while on our way to the Island. It was not intentional and I was not aware how she felt. We did resolve it and I had to stand very strong and at the same time apologize from the heart. We both learned a lesson that day. We learned that we could work things out even when it seemed impossible at the moment.
;-}

That's actually what I meant!
For you it's important some how.
I think that's the case for most people. In the dark, in the bed it doesn't matter how you look does it.
But parading down the street you need to look good and in your mind your partner needs to look good to.
Dressed nice even a monkey gets approval.
Here in Sweden people dress horrible but we have maybe a smoth personality comparted to most nationalities.
I wouldn't date a monkey though!

No one would date a monkey... except a monkey..!!

When you first meet someone, you take notice on first date how they dress, If they don't appeal to you, you don't take them to bed.

" people are not beautiful as they look, as they walk, or as they wear.
people are beautiful as they love, as they are sincere, as they care, and as they share
"
