the uk citizens in europe act like the americans but the americans are nicer so we like more. but the question is uk is more european than american, even they are highly influenced by the criminal no-laws-capitalism. Anyway, the languages are important when you travel, if you only speak english and you only can read the lonely plante guide, you will go from one "english speaking" place to other and your chances to learn anything are very remote. for that reason, among others, are the americans afraid to drink from the tap, cause they cant understand something like we have good water in the tap.

wow, I get along speaking the native language in italy until they start talking fast. The various dialects then throw me off then though. Speech is really a small part of communications. Other european countries i've visited, i usually meet with english speaking people or with a woman on holiday (rarely) there and we both concentrate more on non-verbal communications.
Oh, about drinking tap water in europe: I don't know about spain's water quality but i would never drink tap water in italy or tap water in a lot of eastern european countries. The water quality in Israel sucks bad too.

Where did you live in europe? what was your army base? cause it is clear your body could be in europe but your mind was still in america.
And i think america itself vanishes, sad cause i feel friend of americans (even of the stupid poor americans who support the tea party against their interests). May be, perhaps...we will have crime in the streets over the country, but, by now, america is the paradise of the crime and the number of jails is rocketing. Btw, if you sum the people in jail with the people with no job, you have your real unemployment rate, what is about 15%. We, in the old europe, prefer to help the people with no job instead to put them in jail, probably cause we arent in the american paradise. (well, we also can kill the people like in america, even if they are kids or with mental sickness, we only need some christian ayatollah to justify the killing of inmates)
