I drive a hyundai. And NO it's not a lie, I really do own one! Call me materialistic if you must. It has four doors too... not the cheapy two door model.
Actually it is not inferred, as "men" is men and "some men" is some men, not that hard to clarify in the beginning. But I know you seem to enjoy to pick things apart...just you?? I don't know,, all women? Of course not.
It is not just the men who lie, but most people lie to make them selves look good. They are probable a insecure and hopeing to land someone that will take care of them. Kinda like most women! Well I'm not broke and I don't have a job. I am probable to honest, but I am very fortunate too.
Hmm...Could it possibly be because -some- men perceive that -some- women's expectations are -some-what unreasonable? Of course, it could be for the same reason that I have had women tell me that they are 35, svelt and single (20 year old photo furnished), when they are actually 55, rotund and unhappily married.
By the way, A Guide to English Grammar and Writing, does indeed state that objects without discretionary limiters are considered to be all inclusive (or nearly so) by inference, "Why do frogs croak?", "Why do birds fly?". An exception to this being a current state observation, "Why is the sky blue?", does not necessarily infer that the sky is -always- blue, but merely that it is currently, or that it is frequently observed in that state. In turn, a query like, "Why are birds green?" is considered non sequitur, as a definitive conclusion cannot be reached to furnish the answer.
