In 6th year at secondary school...I heard someone say planes crashed into the twin towers..I thought it was a hoax and didn't take it seriously until I got hope and turned on the TV...every station I switched on was covering that story...I was a bit pissed off as I'd been looking forward to watching a programme on TV when I got home but it was cancelled...dam those terrorists

Yeah it was afternoon alright, about 2pm if I remember correctly, I thought the world was about to end!

They are five hours behind so it was around 8.30am-9am (1.30-2pm Irish time) in New York when the planes crashed into the World Trade Centre. Thats probably where Pedro got confused.
I was at work when it happened.

I thought you were right Pedro but it seems we're both wrong. 8.46 am in New York was when the first tower was hit. I just checked. So I think it must have been 1.45 pm here.
I was driving and all the commercial radio stations stopped playing music
and just put the live news channels out over the airwaves !
