pedro27: but anyone can develop a schiz, your children yourself ect
No, not anyone. There are two causes. 1. Marihuana use. 2. A genetic defect. I would not be interested in a pot head, nor would I want such a defective gene incorporated in the DNA of my children.

How common is schizophrenia?
Schizophrenia is one of the most common serious mental health conditions. The 2000 National Survey of Psychiatric Morbidity in the UK found that 5 in 1000 people experienced a psychotic disorder (including schizophrenia and manic depression). Men and women are equally affected by the condition. In men, schizophrenia usually begins between the ages of 15 and 30. In women, schizophrenia usually occurs later, beginning between the ages of 25 and 30.
As you will note this can develop AFTER birth. So how would you know a member of your family had it until the symptoms appeared.
there is no substantial proof that Marijuana causes schizophrenia though LSD has been known to cause temporary symptoms on some individuals. just to clarify, I do not use either of these drugs.

combination of genetic and environmental factors play a role in the development of schizophrenia...
and some recreational and prescription drugs appear to cause or worsen symptoms.

My daughter was diagnosed with severe bipolar disorder vs schizoaffective disorder last March. I am happy to report that she is doing well and getting married in June. If you met her, you would never know.
