Sunnydaze14: Yes Pedro I know thats true, there are so many different degrees of the illness and it affects people in different ways. Some people can live normal lives with medication and for others it takes years of trying different medication. Then there are the people who go through phases of refusing medication or compounding the problem with alcohal
It's a tough road but if a family member is diagnosed they need all the emotional support they can get.
But I wouldn't knowingly begin a relationship with someone with this illness

That happens to everyone in life Pedro. We are but a short time on earth, some shorter than others unfortunately.
Mental illness is just one of the medical conditions that are thrust upon humans on a daily basis.
For me it's the same as someone who develops M.S. Parkinsons, cancer, or any other debilitating illness. I would hope that the loved one would stand by that person and support them to the best of their ability.
That being said, for those that have first hand knowledge of mental issues, I truly understand their desire to not involve themselves with a new person entering their life.
I guess we all have broken thoughts at some time in our life, even without any preconceived conditions.
Take care and thank you for a thought provoking thread.
rider4u: Thank you for putting it in it's proper perspective. It's no use trying to educate Carl as his opinion is encased in cement. I've never seen anyone with such a narrow point of view. If it were any narrower his eyes would both be on the same side of his nose.
I would not date, marry nor have children with Carl because he is from Australian and everybody who is interested in history knows that criminals were sent to Australia. So if he was born and raised in Australia he might have criminal blood in his system and I would not want criminal blood floating in my DNA gene pool. I do not mean this for all Australians just Carl. Sorry if I have offended or hurt anyones feelings.

pedro27: do people who suffer greatly remsemble christ?
Well I personally think that his suffering was at the hands of mankind, but that's another thread, and one that I'm not willing to debate on the Forums.
StillOfTheNight: I was diagnosed with depression at 21, diagnosed with Schizophrenia in my mid 20s. Its been a barrel of laughs (not)
That certainly makes your darker moods more understandable. I was married to a lady diagnosed Schizophenic (no it wasn't the same one who is bipolar) after our marriage and can tell others through experience that it is very painful to be the partner of someone who suffers from this disease, as you remain helpless on the sidelines. Enjoy your good days Still.
