People keep mention these unwritten rules! Why the hell are they not wrote down cause I need a copy!!! It would be great if anyone has some unwritten rules they wanna share? Or how unwritten rules have helped or hindered you? The one I keep getting told about is no contact after a date for 4 days
lanabh: Yeah I think the unwritten rules are more for players of the game rather than people who want out of the game! I think if someone decided they didn't want to go out with me again cause I txted to see if they got home ok then I Wouldn't want to know someone like that anyway!
If I had a nice time out with someone I'd want to call them before I went to bed THAT night. That is, if I wasn't in bed with them, and even then I'd consider calling, just to be polite.
Why are people so afraid to talk to each other nowadays? What happened to communication?

What a relief to hear a man say that lol and here's me thinking they all had special watches

It's not just men. It applies to women also - this text but don't text, or text but don't ring thing. Or you have to wait two days to text someone, and conversely if you don't text that night or the next morning, it's off. It's mainly girls in their early to mid twenties far as I can see.
I know one girl, have known her for years - won't talk on the phone most of the time. Texting. Then more texting. You'd need prosthetic thumbs by the end of it.

You know what? I f-in hate texting.
your poor thumbs soooo what your saying is im too old for rules? just grab what i can and lock him in the basement and ring him to see if hes hungry

that sounds like a good plan....don't have a basement so ill have to lock him in the attic
in all seriousness though it is hard to know what to do, with some if you do text you are smothering him and with others if you don't you are ignoring him. heaven forbid you might just enjoy talking to the chap like I guess it has to be done on a person by person basis, none of us are the same so what works for one probably drives another up the wall....that said I think locking him up and ringing every so often will work for all

I think that four day rule applied years ago when we had to walk to the local phonebox to make a call or had to wait for there to be no one else in the house so you can call...in this an age of modern technology when it takes all of a matter seconds to send a txt, it really doesn't apply... .I think its only manners to thank someone for a lovely nite I know I always would, this dating malarkey is hard enough without the game playing and rules

I agree. I don't see anything wrong with texting someone even a half hour after the date. If you like someone and they like you, these silly "rules" go out the window. Rules are only for players in my opinion. Okay i get that you don't want to scare someone off by appearing too keen but if they are scared off easily, its their problem not yours. Now if someone was texting me non-stop after the date, I might be a bit freaked out but one or two, well there is no harm in that.
fifitheminx: what happened to letting someone u like, know u like them..
what happened to human emotion when did it become stalkerish..
thats the really hard part, well i find it is anyway. possibly down to a fear of rejection, fear of losing a potential friend or fear of both.....coupled with not knowing the right words to say that wont freak him out or scare him away

mostly doesnt bother me..esp rejection..its either their loss or a bad judgement on chemistry.

even being texted during a date can be very attractive..and kinda exciting if its all going the right way..or it can make things smoother...somewhat.
all depends on situation..who u are...who ur dating i suppose.
