I read about this once ... Apparently, it´s to do with 2 things:
1. When you´re happy and "in love" or "in lust" you give off a different vibration, a happy-smily-witty-entertaining-fun to be with one. When you´´re single some "that" glow disappears or looks more forced, less "sips out of every pore" ...
2. When women see a very beautiful woman on your arm, they automatically assumes you must have "something" worth having and they want "it" (IE you) for themselves.
and I will even add a third one.
3. Some people want what isn´t available.

I noticed a similar phenomenon. My ex boyfriend was not particularly attentive or loving (hence the term ex). We broke up & got back together a few times before the final split. When we were apart, as soon as he'd hear that I was dating someone else, he was all over me like the loving man he always should have been, wanting to get back together, calling all the time & basically doing the things he should have been doing in the first place.
A time or two I was fooled into believing he was a changed man. No, as soon as we got back together he was just like his old self - asn I think a lot of the reasons eaglewoman described apply to this phenom. also...

In fact, in the past when I have been on here and put on my profile that had now (back then) met someone, you wouldn´t believe the amount of extra mail I got...
