Blizzard14u: I love Mondays! six off them are public holidays each year if you take a look at it the other three holidays are good Friday Christmas and boxing day, and I get paid if I am not rostered on or if I am rostered off, ok if its my RDO I get paid 9 ½ hours, if I am rostered off I get paid 19 hours for the day, if I have too work the day I get 23 ½ hours pay for the day, and when you get one RDO per week, today being that day, that’s two days working a day off and then two days at work before the weekend, but I have to go to the doctors tomorrow so I have Thursday off too! So these three day weeks are just murder, and yes my job is fun,

No?

I just love my job,

Although it would be better if the wages were a little bit more?

But the boss is trying to get us a better wage as truck drivers over here are hard to find? Everyone is going north, but I still have the kid too look after for a few more years,

I just have a positive attitude when it comes to work, as I like to be the best I can be at my job, and I have a lot of fun when doing it,

I keep telling the boss that I will teach the new guys the way off the dark side if he want me too!

Blizzard14u: My last job I had one full weekend off after seven weeks working shift, although the wages are not the best at the moment, I do enjoy my weekends back with the kid, even more now that she lives with me! And I see her everyday!

Money doesn’t matter when you have what I got with the kid, we are arguing at the moment on who should feed the cat? Poor cat is going to starve before it gets fed! She is as bad as me!

Hi Blizz...

I think its lovely that you share your postive attitude with us all, and especially your relationship with the kid... so nice..

Hope your cat gets a feed... teddy

I won she fed the cat!

When I said argue it is more off a discussion on who is going to do what?

I win most off them as I can wait all year, its not my cat!

This seems to have imparted the wrong message to you. I would rather work 2 days a week earning a 'normal' pay leaving me with 5 days to spend with my family. I have worked shift work where it basically was "Hi Honey, I'm hommmmme" to be greeted with "Bye Honey, I am off to work."frustrated frustrated

I have also worked where the pay was not so good and advancement was very limited but the conditions did give me quality family time. Now that my children are married and have their own life to share with their partners, I have the choice. Except my daughter rings me and we chat for hours about nothing overly important when he is on shift work.

Well tomorrow - Monday - is a Public Holiday in Qld being Labor Day but I drew the short straw and have to work blues

But on the positive side, I get penalty rates and it will go to paying my plumbers bill crying

Now about my blocked pipes, leaking washing machine and did I say something about things coming in 3's?? well last night the hanging bar in my wardrobe collapsed sigh

Guess it is trying to tell me it is time to have a clothes clear out? I have - and it is amazing how much stuff I have put to one side, stuff I found, "when did I buy this", "Oooh still got the label on, obviously not worn that!" blushing

I have promised myself I will not buy any clothes this winter cheering I am on a thrift phase to save for my campervan so I can go away at weekends? Good plan? cool applause banana

Yes Newlife, great plan..

I am much in the same boat...

I took holidays to build retaining walls, paved the front of the house, had a bathroom and loo room renovated and saving for my roof restoration happening at the end of this month... I have not bought new clothes for ages...sigh

I cannot have all... and it doesn't matter... I wont die because of it... grin

It will be fine... you'll see. bouquet

Working in the City .....30kms and 90 min drive each way.

Working in the country...75kms and 45 minutes each way.

And people in the country not only smile more but even say "G'day" to strangers (I might be weird but don't call me strange).

But the odd day in the city makes you appreciate how much you have away from it.
