That was his way of punishing her and maybe in their social class that is acceptable, ties in with the brothers bashing the husband kind of world, Mine would be different,, either way she deserved punishment for her actions..

Nope. What many are doing are understanding why she got beat. It's hard to judge what any of us would do in that situation. It be nice to think none of us would hit her. I can't condemn the man for hitting her. Because I don't know what I would do in that situation. I've never been made angry enough in the past. It would be new ground.
