A big let down for fans of the 'Pool. Who should they get as manager? Martinez? Rodgers? Or a more experienced manager with Champions League experience?

The club were falling apart, 4 points from relegation and not a trophy in 6 years before he was approached and asked to assume the role after Woy, he did great and got rid of most of the dead wood that was there..i've said it many times that these things don't happen over night and it's gonna take a long time to get things right, probably longer now doh

Pep is a Liverpool fan..wink

No surprise really.

His League performance was abysmal and his handling of the Suarez affair was embarressing for the club.
Benitez name is lighting up the Pool forums.
I think they will go for a young manager with a track record of getting the best out of people.
Maybe Paul Lambert. If it was me I'd go for Martin O Neill although it would surprise me if they got him.

No I'd like you to show a little common courtesy to an indisputable sporting legend.

True. He should have never gone back as manager. It never ends well when a manager goes back to a club he was successful with before. Graham Taylor at Villa and Kevin Keegan at Newcastle spring to mind off the top of my head.

I have a feeling they will go for a foreign manager again. Paul Lambert, Roberto Martinez and Brendan Rodgers are all good, young managers but they lack enough experience i think for a job of that size. They could just as easily promote from within and appoint Steve Clarke. He knows a thing or two but again he has never managed a club in his own right so I can't see that happening either.

Martin O'Neill would be a great choice but I'd say he'd prefer and wait and go to United. Besides, he's not there that long at Sunderland and probably still has a few years to go on his contract so I can't see him walking out on them.

I wouldn't be surprised if AVB was in the frame. He's young but he has won things and the experience of managing Chelsea has probably taught him a few things. However, my money is on Fabio Capello or Laurent Blanc. Capello's record in club football speaks for itself and he has said that he wants to manage in the premiership and Blanc did well at Bordeaux.
