TWINbro: had something like that ten yrs ago,i saw a shoting star goig slowly instead of the normal quick streak, and it landed i next doors paddock, when it hit the ground though,it was only100mm in lenghth,it was a meteorite, and i still have it,and they are pretty valuable
to make a long story short. going back now more than 25 years. Two meteorites about a size of a golf balls hit the ground about 15 to 20 meters away from us, after few seconds went back up in the same arch they came down in. I always wondered if it was some advanced signal, once hitting a soled object bounce back and report its finding.

venere08: Well, I can't find that particular event I mentioned on any online official list of Defence dept ufo sightings. Yet the Air Force was definitely involved in investigating it. Odd.

Just curious...Which part of the US is area 51 meant to be situated?

I was just curious. It makes sense as to the location as it would be surrounded by desert(I think).

Our base here at Edinburgh is top, top secret in terms of some of the things actually conducted. I used to work with someone who was an ex-employee there. Of-course he didn't tell me anything confidential or he would have to shoot melaugh...but he did say that we would shudder if we knew some of the things they stocked/tested there...

Of-course. I'm referring to stuff that is hidden from most defence personnel as well. I'm talking germ warfare stuff and the rest.

They haven't given up on anything, AA...The technology just becomes more and more sophisticated, is all.

Since when is any government truly concerned about its international travellers??...Do you know that the jets we travel in are sprayed with toxic chemicals without us knowing? They have become sneakier and less intrusive than when I travelled in 1982.

On arrival to Australia, we were asked to remain seated while men in anti-radiation style style suits/head gear came in and fumigated the entire aircraft. We didn't have masks and had not been warned of it coming. Within the hour, I suffered uncontrollable vomiting which required calling a doctor who gave me an injection to stop it...This toxic chemical can cause all manner of neurological damage. Now they simply spray the 'plane just before you get on and if it's been sprayed only a few hours earlier, it will be very much in the air, the seating etc for passengers to inhale!!

It still wont stop contracted viruses spreading. The incubation period for some viruses can be days to several years, while still having the capability of spreading to other bodies.

Better to make a few of mankind suffer a little than have Anthrax, etc spread throught a country which is virtually disease free. And many more invasive diseases. Those men in their white suits are exposed nearly every day to those chemeicals that can reduce the risk of these diseases being spread in Australia. Continued exposure to them can be fatal while a single exposure every now and again does not have residual affect.

Simple solution to fumergation, stop everyone coming here.cheering applause

Everything is a possibility Martia just look at the variety of life on our planet. We have some which do not rely on the sun, living miles beneath our oceans, in caves…etc

What about water bears? they can survive in boiling water or equivalent in frizzing temperatures, I believe they can also survive in the vacuum of space.

Heck that toxic spray wouldn't stop the spread of anthrax just as it didn't stop the spread of the SARS virus, bird flu, or ordinary flu and so on.... It only targets very specific bacteria such as found on some animals. But the effects on humans directly inhaling as I did, can be extremely harmful neurologically.

Only real solution is to stop people coming herethumbs up

But Aust has had a 99.99% success rate against Anthrax. It is only those who dislike going through the system that impact on the rest of us. If you are one of those who watch the Customs shows on tv, you might have an inkling of what people are trying to import here which may most likely have devastating affects on our rural economy.

I worked at Sydney Airport for 4 years and part of our work involved understanding what our quarentine efforts were all about. Bad enough we got the Fire Fly from our 'friendly' NZ neighbour.

Coming back from Overseas, I declared everything I had, not much, but because of the language, I thought it prudent to be safe than sorry, no problem - the customs agents were great and waived me through, but another couple, didn't declare, and most of everything they had was seized... so I guess the moral of the story, if in doubt, declare.. chances are you to keepy your items...scold

SARS virus and the common flu have incubation periods and people can easily pass from one country to another with no symptoms showing, meanwhile passing it on to everyone they come into contact with.

I have the flu shot every year and have a mild reaction the next day, and very occasionally get a wee dose of the flu. I have had full blown influenza, it is worth the risk of having the needle and a small dose. Had a mate whose influenza went to double pneumonia, he has his shots every year.

Bird flu is a bit hard to stop unless we start shooting all those migratry birds that come from as far away as India and Russia.

Ms Venere, if you don't like the spray in the planes, travel by boat.

Full of logical solutions aren't we Mr Wash2.professor

I am not particularly worried about catching the flu' or whatever else on board flights, in that it is not something that is on my mind when I travel...Not sure how my message has eluded you for this long...I am simply saying that authorities should not be underhanded towards international passengers, especially when someone can be allergic, in which case they might choose not to travel at all... But unless they know, they cannot make that choice, now can they. Capice??laugh
