It's a while since 1990, they're due another one and it was a shame they didn't manage it in their own country, the parties for 3rd place were great. Best of luck to Poland and Ukraine, hope they'll go far with the Euro in their own countries, it would be a big disappointment otherwise for their fans.

they trahed every1.the final was a bad match though .if my memory is still working,i think the left back scored the peno,brehme i think it was.they had sum smashing players,lothar mathius,klinsman,rudi voller,karl heinz reidle.great players.that was the best german team i ever saw.

Yeah it's always good when the host nations do well in any tournament as it just adds to the excitement. Germany have built a brilliant squad and the way they concentrated on youth and reorganised is a credit to them. They have gone thru some hard times not being competitive (relatively speaking) and I reckon they are now in a brilliant position to compete for the next decade. Some world class players.

Yes, you're right cracking team and the final was one of the worst matches of the tournament. I still remember the match against Netherlands, Germany and Netherland neighbouring countries and there was always war on when playing soccer. Rijkaard spit at Germany's Aunt Katie and they both got 2 red cards. Some really good teams there, Brasil was good and lost early again Argentina.

Yes, there was great sceptism in Germany about the squad, they started with a lot of new and young players and the prediction was they won't get far. They were a great team and played some great matches. It mended some bridges in Germany itself as well, Germany probably being the country with least national proud and zero flags, it was the first time ever I saw German flags on houses and carried around and people actually not looking dodgyly at that. I was already living in Ireland at that time and an Irish friend out working there with my brother. The atmosphere must have been great and one big party. Made it to the finals and actually celebrated 3rd round with a group of Irish friends out there.
1999 Man Utd winning the treble...The champions league final was the icing on the cake.
