skyblue43: Do you reckon?? So Kildare just had a really bad day in your opinion? I'm a bit worried about centrefield to be honest. Meath were good there. We haven't been able to win ball there since Ciarán Whelan retired...

It's probably bias on my part but I don't rate Meath at all. Every dog has its day, theirs was 2 weeks ago.

I backed Donegal for the all-ireland before the Tyrone game at 16/1, i think they will take some stopping. They score a lot more this year, still defend in numbers, but now attack in numbers too. Formidable force for anybody to play.

I don't rate Donegal either. I expect Down to soften their cough on Sunday. Not a team I'd want in the quarters though.

scriobhneoir: 1887 actually and that's more than everyone bar Kerry, yourselves Galway and Meath, who have as many as us.

We also have 37 if you count the hurling. I normally don't but seems like an appropriate time to do so.

youse have a wonderful hurling tradition down in cork.i like to see a good cork team in the hurling championship.i consider cork a hurling heavyweight but i just think that the footballers down there are really in the shadow of the kingdom.cork will only win an all ireland when kerry arent around.before the back door came along, corks biggest day each year seemed to b the munster final v kerry, and even when they won it,sam seldom followed.in all fairness cork should have a hell of alot more than 7 all irelands.

scriobhneoir: Also the only people I've come across that don't believe ye were gifted Samlast year are dubs, I think that says it all. I quite like the dubs but your ill founded superiority complex is a bit hard to take for the rest of us.

we dont have a superiority complex.thats just a country myth.were just not liked because were the city folk.most countys dont like the dubs,so we have to fight our corner.the dubs are very proud, and when we win ,it means alot.alot of countys seem to b happy when were beaten.im very proud to b a dub,and my team means alot to me,and if that comes across has a superiority complex, then sorry.

scriobhneoir: Agreed with Rob.

The Limerick tie has banana skin written all over it after all an awful meath Team that Limerick would fancy their chances against beat Kildare fairly handy. Kildare should win but don't be surprised if they don't. Ah sure Geezer will be managing Armagh this time next year either way.
i doubt he will look for the aramgh job, he wasn't asked when kernan quit and i don't think he was to pleased

robpacciani: No team ever has a handy match against Limerick Jimbo.
They will win nothing, but they have youth and great fighting spirit, and beat one of the most improved sides in the country in Longford. Kildare are also over-rated, they cannot be considered a very good side until they win a Leinster at least. They had a handy one against Cavan, but don't forget Meath gave them a good hiding.
don't get me wrong i have great admiration for limerick, they have a real club spirit in their, tactically they are very good, with the two wing forwards coming back deep to carry the ball, they make great use of to excellent corner forwards, and are very good at picking up breaks in midfield. on the down side some of their best players are around a bit, lucey has seen better days, seanie buckley is a fine player and ian ryan would walk on to most teams in the country

how many of your provincial tips on the thread are still alive?

I did them pissed...roll eyes I spent 6 months telling people Tyrone had peaked for the league and wouldn't win Ulster...then tipped them. Thought Galway looked very good against Kildare in the last league match and figured they'd be an improving young team...Lucky for me I kept my money in my pocket...grin

If it's Kerry they're back in the game...not that I ever thought they were gone. I still don't thing Tyrone are good enough though. They could beat Kerry but won't win the All Ireland in my opinion

I know Vinny picks favourites and Jimbo is going for the kill, everyone else has to start taking risks at this stage, so I thought I would get mine in early before the madness starts.laugh

Myself and Ian Ryan played side by side all through underage level, me full forward, Ian in the corner, or vice versa, he is a brilliant player, and was a pleasure to play with. We played Senior together also until i stopped playing when i had work commitments. As you said, he would get onto any team in the country.
