pedro27: the lights come on but the engine won't fire up, not even a kick, i think it might be the start motor??
Now youve given a little info about the lights coming on , then obviously the Batteries working .
Could be the Start Motor , {Possibility }
But just going out on a Wild one {but always possible} All this rain weve had , could have Water {To much Moisture } in the Earth Strap going to the Engine Body .
Iff its slowly turning over then id plump for the Start Motor , give it a WHACK ,with a piece of Wood .
Check 'alternator' & 'distributor'. Check 'Fuel Pump'. All depends on which model. If it has a microprocessor controlled engine, you may have to call in the diagnosics team from the company.
you said the lights worked so still some power in the battery, maybe not enough however another possibility could be the solenoid, which can jam, its located on outside the battery, small round bit, some times if that jammed you can tap it and might then function, has little piston inside which complete the circuit to engage the starter motor
If the motor turned over at a normal starting speed when you first tried to start it, but never fired up, then your problem is probably not the starter. Check your points, your plugs, and make sure it's getting gas to the carburetor and spark to your spark plugs.
If the cylinders are getting fuel, air, compression, and a spark, they should at least try to fire.
