If you were house hunting, what would be top of you "wish list"?

Walk in wardrobes?
State of the art kitchen?
Surround sound system?

Design your dream house.....

Ok, but if you don't have mortgage repayments, what is the first improvement you would make?

Come on.....spend some money laugh

For me it would be a house on it's own plot of land, a low maintenance garden and a large bathroom with a claw foot bath!!!

The bathroom would actually be the selling point for me laugh

Red brick exterior and big Georgian windows. Red front door and garage to the side. Small lawn to the front and large back garden with decking area. A huge kitchen with everything fitted, mahogany cupboards, breakfast bar and an American fridge/freezer. Cozy sitting room in cream/red with leather sofa and 3D telly, real fireplace and laminate wood flooring. Bathroom downstairs, main bathroom upstairs and master bedroom would have an ensuite. In main bedroom a sliding wardrobe just for me, vanity table and huge four-poster bed. A study room or library and an attic that's easy to access oh and yeah a cellar, purely for wine.

I don't ask for much but my final wish would be for someone else to have to clean it!

I'm watching Dermot Bannon at the minute, that's what made me think of this laugh

Do you not think all his designs are the same though? Open plan, lots of glass?

I lived for about six weeks with only a bean bag to sit on.....the novelty soon wears off laugh

If I had the money I would buy this house and the one next door.
Knock the 2 into one. I'd have stairs coming up the center of the house, one side of stairs I'd have a big sitting room with stone work around the fireplace, leather suit and wooden floors and the big tv of course. Other side of stairs big kitchen with loads of lights, big breakfast bar and table and chairs. Good size utility and down stairs bathroom, behind the stairs a play room

up stairs shower with glass wall in my room and after that I really don't care uh oh

Oh how I wish I could win the lotto doh

Basic house would do me as long as its in functioning order and I don't have to do much maintainence on it with a good scenic view will do , I never seen the point in spending hundreds of thousands on a house when you could practically purchase miles of land and make money on it.

Personally, I don't like big houses, small, cosy and old style would be my choice.

You can only sleep in one room and sit in one room, what's the point in having a house full of spare rooms? laugh

Im really kinda of the same vein.
I would like a decent kitchen though.
My only luxury would be the location, Pretty much close to where I live now. I adore being able to see the sea and the mourne mountains from my house. Oh...a second thing.....underfloor heating in the bathrooms.
I love going to Norway where they have that. A separate thermostat outside the bathroom. Its the warmest room in the house....not like the coldest here!

My parents downsized a few years ago when they finally got rid of all of us and I would like a house like they have now. A nice 3bed bungalow on half an acre.

Mahogany is SO 1990's barf laugh cheers

Ok, my dream house...

Well, it'd be old, like, a proper old house, with proper old fitting and proper old character, nothing 'created' or simulated, I want the real thing. Old floorboards, old architrave and doors covered in 100 years of paint! Old tiles, old cupboards. I want an old fireplace with a big ol' basket full of timber plonked beside it, a comfortable leather couch, a nice vinyl player and loads of space for records. Windows panes still with ripples and waves in them, large bay windows that you can sit in and have timber shutters. I want my walls to be covered in paintings, images...things, interesting things, old things.

I want my house to be functional, practicle, liveable, not something from a magazine! I want a kitchen full of untensils and shelves packed with all manner of kitchen paraphenalia, all useful and all being used.

I want clocks, old clocks, clocks that tick tock, clocks you can hear, clocks you wind, clocks that live and you look after. I want a door bell that goes 'ding dong', like, proper old style 'ding dong' not that modern 'ding dong'

I want a lot!
