In two years time the people of Scotland will decide through the ballot box if they want to remain part of the UK or become an independent nation not governed from Westminster.

My father was born in Aberdeen so if they vote for a split then I will be claiming my Scottish passport.

think the scots should vote yes then us Enlish wont be paying tuition fees for scottish children when i cant afford to pay them for mine. they have free prescriptions to just not right so do the welsh. oh i love the scottish really nice people but think england would be better off if they left thouh that would mean a prmanant conservative government which i wowuld hate as most of the seats in scotland are snp or labour

Well, I am a citizen of the world (am very defininely not patriotic!). I hail originally from Norfolk, via tons of other places, but have lived in Scotland for 21 years now. I NEED those free prescriptions because I am disabled and live on a tiny income. I also ow for my college tuition fees, and will do so for the forseable future no doubt!

I have never met a Scot yet, who is in favour of Independence (which I am not)...but then I don't get out much! doh crazy crazy crazy

I wont be voting for Scottish Independence...the day for that is long gone imo...in these hard times we find ourselves in atm, we should all be pulling together instead of ripping apart an already small island.....as for the free prescriptions in Scotland...I have never agreed with this...apart from for the chronically sick, the elderly and the unemployed...for gods sake we only had to pay about a fiver for a script...no big deal if youre working surely....as for the English kids having to pay their uni fees....who decided that they would have to pay?...it wasnt us Scots...engerlanders please look to your own MPs and dont be blaming us! uk

Yes it won't happen, look what happened in Canada, Quebec had a vote about independence because some people in that province wanted a split with Canada, so the votes were cast and right across the nation, the people of Quebec voted to remain apart of Canada, I'm sure I heard that the majority of Canadians voted for the split, but only the votes cast in Quebec counted towards the official decision I think.

Let me introduce you to one of the many who want independence for Scotland. Just watch the media over the next two years and see how determined the British establishment are on keeping us in the union. If we are such a drain on the economy ask yourself why. The Scottish electorate are in favour of a more equitable society that's clear and we are clearly not getting that with Cameron & Clegg. I look forward to an independent Scotland without wasteful Trident thank you very much.

Scotland should jettison all ties with the 'Unionist' drivel of the Westminster coalition and opposition.

Time for the Scots to grow up, imo.

Too true, I have never had any truck with petty nationalism or any tiresome anti-English rhetoric I just think that it's time to take responsibility for ourselves, time to cut the apron strings and grow towards our full potential.

I have looked to Ireland and Iceland in recent years and dont like what I see.....why would Scotland be any different when out on its own....we also have a small population and high unemployment....I have always been a Labour supporter through good and bad times and I have never liked the SNPs type of aggressive politics starting way back with Roseanna Cunningham...Alex Salmond is an egotistical proven liar and god help us all if he has the rule of Scotland....no thanks Im happy(ish) with the way things are.

Hi Crystal
I don't hear Paulo singing an ode to the United Kingdom or Great Britain. It's Caledonia, the ancient Pictish land that is now Scotland. I think you are secretly in favour of independence and Paulo's the very man that could convince you to vote Yes. ;)

This is a reply to all posts on the subject of Scottish Independence!

I read such drivel about this subject that it really makes me sick!
Why does the tory government not want Scotland to become independent? That is the only question any true Scottish person need ask themselves!
As to the answer, well obviously it will weaken England and strengthen Scotland! The First Minister is no fool, he knows that a free from England independent Scotland would thrive and grow, it would be up to England to keep up, my one concern is all the immigrants in Scotland might be swayed by the government who let them in! I just hope that all true scottish people vote YES!
