Because within that long, long time they've seen comments that have been economical with the truth?

If someone has seen signs of dishonesty in someone else's posts, or private mail then it doesn't matter how long they've known them, they are not going to fully trust that person.

I was wondering about that myself ...why isn`t anyone trusting me

guess seeing me next to a barrel of lubricant and a box of surgical gloves made most members here a bit suspicious ...uh oh

"Doing something wrong" is a matter of perspective.

It may be that someone's comments, or information are misinterpreted, like many have been deeply suspicious at the difference between my education and current employment although there's a simple explanation.

It maybe through ignorance someone might not understand a comment and assume its not quite the truth.

It may be because someone is unpredictable in as much as they don't fit into a stereotype and that can scare some people.

It may be that they lie themselves, so assume all others are liars.

It may be they just don't like someone's debating style and find it too assertive.

There could be so many reasons why one person doesn't trust another.

It certainly doesn't help that there are those who hide their identity in a medium such as this.

It's an online forum. Unlike in the real world where there is consequence to an opinion, here there is none, so what would be the point in lying? And, for that matter, the harm from being lied to?

If you come on here and you still can't manage to speak the truth then you really are proving something rotten about yourself.

I don't see how I could trust someone I've never met in real life. I try to see from what someone writes if it's true or not, however I don't trust anything if I don't meet that person in real life.
