You're not alone there. I gave up yearsago. Besides, in fairness, you'd be more likely to find someone who shares your interests on Politics.ie. This place is so far gone from being a dating site that even the site owner has a profile on POF! Says it all really.

It's true for GG though, you'd have more chance of success in your natural social circles. I also find women my age on these things claim to be sick of the pub/club scene yet tend to be looking for the type of guy they look in pubs and clubs.
Of the women on this site that I've found myself attracted to most have tended to be in their 30s or 40s.

Give it a few days scriob, am sure it`ll pick up. Am on there myself & 90% of my mails are from under 30s looking for "cougars", unfortunately I`m not going through my toy boy phase just yet

I agree it is easier to meet people in one's social circles and you know whether you have a connection and are attracted to them are not.

Ok, 0 out of 25 does not sound good Scriobh. My advice would be to look at profiles that are online now, read through their profiles and send a brief opening mail, [preferably containing a witty comment] connected to what they have written.

That's precisely what I did, it's what I always do. Never seems to work. I think my profiles, both here and on that are maybe a bit wordy, I come across as a bit of a nerd.

If thats how you come across then so be it, I mean, if youre happy that your profile describes you then leave it as is, no need to try and portray an image of yourself that isnt right, or trying to pander to others likes and tastes.
I took a dive into the pond again recently after swearing I'd NEVER join it again, it wasnt that I didnt get replies or first contacts, but they were few and far between, just that the messages were fleeting and communications soon died. Took a slightly different approach this time, threw up a few more pics and thus far its not going so bad, hell, one of my first messages to a lady was 'I like your face'
having a great chat with that one now, unusual first message, but, it worked

It's horses for courses, if you realise that internet dating is probably as effectgive a way of getting a woman as sticking your langer in a gate and singing the Macarena in Japanese, then you will prob go here for the discussion and the bamter. If you just want a date, or even a fleadh, you'll probably as well off on POF.
