LovingGirl2013: Hi Out There!!

I have become a lot more wary on this site but would really like some advice about what to do if people ask straight away for me to message them on yahoo.

If they have internet access, I can only assume that there isn't a very good reason why they can't chat on here...

Am I being over careful in ignoring them?

please help...

Overly careful of ignoring an obvious scam??? Not at all. Actually Yahoo allows a person to set up multiple "disposable" email accounts, and these are really great. I use them for scammers, and for websites. They email address appears as legit when "tested", but they can't actually send anything to them. So I use it a lot.

But I think that the general consensus is to stay here for a while. I do however chat via email with people who give me non-yahoo, gmail, or other online email addresses.

It is a lot harder to spoof these..... though it can be done, but I haven't been caught this way yet.....

Oh no not at all. Their aim is not to get you to chat on Yahoo; their aim is to get you off-site where you will be unprotected by CS's in-house anonymity. They are looking to phish you same time as they are fishing you. Not every scammer is interested in emptying your purse; some just wanna harvest email addresses for spam purposes. But either way, an immediate desire to get you away spells trouble. It's like a tall dark handsome stranger knocking on your door, and saying, "Hi! Nice to meet you! Wanna come outside, down the street, to a dark alley?"

Thank you all so much for your messages and advice. To be totally honest, I'm starting to wonder if anyone on this site is legit (present company excepted of course!!!).
