conduit: Great Wash2u,
I wonder if this also applies, to my belief, that "the day I stop making mistakes is the day I stop".

We all should learn from our mistakes, how else do we really learn?

My father tried to teach me his trade but ..........

He never once said "I told you so" when I stuffed up.

I went to Bunnings today (okay, nursuries usually have someone trying to sell you plants as well) for some potting mix for my bromiliads which have so may pups shooting. Looked up the internet for how to keep them going. "Go for the Cynbidium Orchard mix" it said. Grabbed a bag of "Orchid Mix" but was not sure if it was the right one.

Along comes a 20+ girl asking if I need help. Bloody oath I need help here. Told her what I was looking for and she recommended something with a more suitable mix for what I wanted. I had grabbed the bag of the "Brand Name" I was familiar with but she told me the differences.

Okay, it was $1 more but did sound like what I was after. Soon find out.

Moral is, I might have a few grey hairs on the scalp (sign of wisdom?) but does not mean that I cannot listen to someone younger who might know more than me.

Merriweather: Salaam Conduit ( Hello)

Persian language... Farsi... is what a lot of our new immigrants speak.. so being that I see them at work, I thought I 'd give it a go..

What makes it different is that you always use the Noun first, then the adjective then the verb.. so Its back to front from how we place words..

I go on FarsiWizard on google and from that I have learnt about 30 odd words.. but now, I should be able to get on with it a bit more if Ali gives me some guidance...

anyway... Salaam phonetically for us... say Salum.. is the hello word

and no... I have no intention of learning how to write it... that is all too hard.. lol

Thanks Merriweather, I will find it on google and try to learn some and maybe surprise my friend, next time I see her. She chants some of the prayers. Sounds beautiful. I learnt to chant one short prayer(2short lines) that another friend taught me over the phone. I spent 2 weeks on the phone getting the sounds, words, speed etc.15min. each time, she rang me. I had to copy her. She also gave me a link to arabic or farsi chanting on a you tube. That gave me the idea of how I could chant it. The group was impressed. Now I have forgotten everything --must find the words and practice it again. It's worth doing.
