tomcatwarne: I have service manuals with my vehicles, I just get them serviced on time and the manuals filled in. This helps when it comes time to sell and trade up.

Good idea all right, but mine is a 2004 and I just replaced the gearbox and clutch in it so think i'll keep it until it goes to car heaven at this stage.

mohd1346: Hi friends
Usually we change engine oil and oil filter together .
some people change the oil only and the next time change theme together .
IF the oil is high quality ( sj or sl or sm ) we usually change the oil after 8000 or 10000 km ( if engine works in good weather and good condition ) .
is it useful to change the oil filter after 4000 or 5000 km without changing the oil and change them together after 8000 or 10000 km ?
i think changing the oil filter refreshes the oil and recleans it and makes it work much better ( for high quality oils only ) .
What do you think ? is it correct ?

You know there s quite a difference between mineral oils and synthetic oils .
Mineral oils should be changed on 5.000km or less along with the filter
while synthetic oils can be used for atleast twice as long .Be sure to change the filter along with the oil

do you change the filter in your coffe maker? or do you just keep adding grounds to it till nothing comes out?
if your oil filter cloggs up, it starves for oil. the berrings dont get lubricated and ultimatly you just wasted a perffectly good engine by saving 3 bucks.

and as i said at the outset, for this 'savings' just see what your insurance company will say when you try to claim and they find you what you did that leads to the fault. ha ha.

My car requires the first oil change at 12,000 miles or 1-year, whichever comes first.
