Hi friends
Usually we change engine oil and oil filter together .
some people change the oil only and the next time change theme together .
IF the oil is high quality ( sj or sl or sm ) we usually change the oil after 8000 or 10000 km ( if engine works in good weather and good condition ) .
is it useful to change the oil filter after 4000 or 5000 km without changing the oil and change them together after 8000 or 10000 km ?
i think changing the oil filter refreshes the oil and recleans it and makes it work much better ( for high quality oils only ) .
What do you think ? is it correct ?

always both. You dont buy a decent car then mistreat. Also check your insurance policy to check you dont void it by tinkering with 'savings' such as this

Each machine has an user manual. Why do you not respect it?
As philosophy a clogged filter should not be used with clean oil, and clean filter with dirty oil. Of course it is possible to change twice the oil and at second time also the filter. It depends on quality of oil and filter. However should be written exactly the procedure in the usermanual for your car/engine.

Changing the filter is more important than changing the oil, but I'd do both each time.

I change my oil and filter every 3,000 miles. I know it's old school thinking but it doesn't hurt to keep the engine clean peace

Modern engines and oils can go longer than 3000 miles(5280km). You can probably double that today. I change my oil and alternate between cleaning the filter and changing the filter.
I drive so little these days that I sometimes go 2 years between oil changes.

Oil in an engine will gunk up and create sediment that will clog the filter if the car isn't driven often. I know my car's engine could wait until 5,000 miles or maybe longer. I could also let my hair go unwashed for a year and what do you think will happen to it and my scalp uh oh

For the price of an oil change I'd rather be sure then sorry. Plus, since there are no men in my life to check under the hood, by getting the oil changed every 3,000 miles, the mechanic can spot check to see if hoses are in good shape and to see if anything's leaking. They also check tire pressure which is something I can't get a gas station attendant to do anymore.

Those were the days when you pulled into a Texaco station and three men came out to wash your windshield, check the oil and pump the gas. Last week I had a tire that was low on air. I pulled into five stations and nobody would put air in my tire. I used to be able to do that myself but with my knee problems I can't get down to the tire to put the air in. After begging I finally found someone to help me.

standard procedure here (in U.S.) is to change both filter and oil every 3,000 miles. (Some mechanics say 5,000 miles..)

That's fine ooby if you are using a full synthetic motor oil. If you are using the standard (old dinosaur bones) motor oil then it will turn acidic after sitting for about 3 months and attack your engines bearings. With todays full synthetic motor oil you can go around 10,000 miles safely between changes and always change the oil and filter (what's a couple of extra dollars). jmho wave

If you remove the filter all the oil will leak off the engine.
You must drain the oil from the engine in to a bucket or something, then put the new filter in and then pour the oil back in.
Just dont reuse it if it´s too old or has turned almost black.

Oil and filter should be changed at the same time. I run synthetic oil and change it every 8000 kms. I am a true believer in synthetic oil, the engine will last much longer as there is less friction than regular motor oil, much cheaper in the long run.

I have service manuals with my vehicles, I just get them serviced on time and the manuals filled in. This helps when it comes time to sell and trade up.

The oil filter is above the oil pan in all cars .
we can change the oil filter without any problem .
I prefer to change the filter every 5000 kms
