I agree primary teachers were the pits it was based on Catholic fear teachers making you sing hymns like a gay person , the smell of stale smoke passing the teachers and brothers staff room .Did enjoy going to the vocational school at least you could act cool in front of all the lovely girls in my classlaugh

going to a country 3 teacher primary school when my mam was one of the teachers.
secondary school and my parents being friends with the vice principal.
Being quiet and not saying boo to a goose.
So school was a barrel of laughs for me.

Nothing in hindsight, really. Was a bit afraid and withdrawn until later teens. Then I went mad. Damn hormones. blushing

fifitheminx: . as a parent with kids who are being educated now i can honestly say things are definately improving.

Yes that is one great thing. I know from my nephews and nieces that they like their teachers now. The teachers and nice to them and help them if they have a problem. Imagine that!laugh

When I was in school if kids had a problem with something the teacher would call them a dunce or say they were not paying attention. Probably hit them a slap too. I remember hearing that corporal punishment was not allowed when I was in primary. Probably 8 or 9. But they still hit us.

Now I know it was not illegal until 1996. Just against regulations since the early 80's.
