Glengirl: Just like CS then

Precisely.

The great thing is that well... people basically belong to types. As much as we'd all like to hold hands and sing about how individualistic we might be, at our core we're all types, with plenty of room for variations. Now.. Rohaan here attracts a bit of criticism for focusing solely on the negative traits. There's also positive ones. Many of them.

The goal of a Manager for example is to try to bring people together of various types and bring out the better side of them, and stomp down on their negative traits. So the tattler has less reason to be a tattler if the morale of the place is good. The aggressor can be harnessed into something productive. The loner... well the loner could be excellent at something that won't require enormous amounts of team work. The Victim? There's no cure for them. Try to have them sacked. They're trouble always. Loads of them on CS. laugh

interesting subject...i just looked up that link and then a couple others about archetypes. and tried to figure out which one i was at work... i really wasn't sure, but i knew it was waaaay different than my life outside of work..
thread got me reflecting about which role/roles i was at work! ...thanks

do you know which archetype you are in work dynamic?
Probably several at different times; overall I was a Pollyanna with victim tendencies. {remembering that we often do not see ourselves as others do is a good baseline. learning to be completely honest with oneself is the first and biggest step toward self actualization. JMO}

You're right. My bad. There were many, many wonderful people in the workplace, and I had a very fair share of loving friends because of work. Thanks for the balance here. thumbs up

Ocee102: It occurrs to me how convenient it would be to stuff someone

we're having trouble with into one of these roles.

It's not my fault she feels like I'm bullying her, she's just a victim type.

I'm not excluding him from the group, he's just a loner.

What I did wasn't dangerous or irresponsible, she's just a tattler.
That's what the world does. Ever watch Dr. Phil? He pins something on EVERYBODY. (no, I don't agree, nor do I think it's fair or right).

I work alone, and i prefer it that way. What i do,how i deal with it and whatever the consequences are to me,i take ownership of.
I dont think i am the sort that would work well with others......being a miserable git.grin

chatonlyman2: I have worked with many people but am amazed at how things have changed in the last 10 years as far as cooperation among employees. I don't know who to blame?

hiya chat wave
i have noticed changes too.
what was once a fun environment with lots of comradery with lots of positive interrelationship on the job and after work, became some kind of sea with most folks staying on their own raft.
i've thought about it.
i have the advantage of being able to choose my level of participation within the group and noticed over the years, i preferred standing back where it felt safer.
for me, my workplace..i think a lot had to do with most folks workload increasing to the point of constant exhaustion, and fear of job security.
as for who to blame...
rather than assign blame, i'd rather just try to take responsibility for myself and my own interactions with folks.
as far as the work archetypes...i'm not sure which one i am. i do know that at work i have the reputation for being a hard worker, and a lot of laughs.
and you know...i don't have to be with other folks to keep laughing...i crack myself up all the time...laugh
