bungallow55: When human kind started to look for something to believe to, they created a lot of Gods. The God of this, God for that. For centuries was like that, human kind were politeists. Then, from nowhere came these peoples from a small country divided in two different tribes.
Somehow they got together, they started to talk about changing things, to be different than the others around them. These two tribes they have their own different names, but sharing the same land and same enemies, attacking them from north to south. They needed to protect themselves from others countries. That's when these two tribes decided to become just one tribe, one people, one defence against these invaders. Who were those two tribes I'm talking about? Israelites, when they become one they called thenselves Israelites, they chose to believe in one God only, they choose to be monoteists. They choose so many things to change, that they become known between selves, The chosen one. God didn't choose these people, they chose thenselves, to believe in one God. Put it on another words; they created the God that we all know today. John Lennon was right when in 1970, he said, God is a concept. Something that was invented by human kind. As human, we need to believe in somthing. Could be God, could be the devil, but we have to believe.
Some call it Faith.
