The way I see it is there are some things that man will never be able to explain...
The way I see God is whatever started that first atom (physical particle) that formed a molecule which formed an element or compound and so on and that is where life eventually comes in at some point. Man has yet to explain by the "laws of nature" where the original matter originated. According to the "laws of nature" all that is physical has evolved from that which has physical matter and that is what science is based on. If there has to be a beginning, how did that first atom come to be?...lol

The original matter? I think they try an answer with the big-bang theory but even at that scale there is a lot of missing matter, I mean, most of the matter in the Universe (that should be there) is "hidden", we do not even have an idea what it is like..
I think it was Hawking who started that scientifical task of reading the "Mind of God" I think a little pretentious, because that mind (whatever God we think it is there) entails more than mathematical connections from the Universe.
As for the time subject raised in this thread, it is not clear if this operation of separation is only at the psychlogical level.
It is well-known that at the spiritual level, time has not got the same form as in "real life"... furthermore time dissapears as such and gets integrated in the existence of the spirit .. (and made real only through re-encarnations). At least this is well-known in Buddhism
