Ana13: Apparently most break ups nowadays are initiated via SMS or social media.
The coward's way out or simply a sign of the times?
Whatever happened to the Dear John letter?

was this a supposed "serious relationship"? had you both met in person? My heart goes out to you. I was dumped via sms after flying thousands of miles more than once and building what I thought was a beautiful beginning of a loving relationship.

i think it's the act of a coward, with the exception, if one tries to contact the other person and they won't respond..then perhaps one has been forced to leave a digital message ending it.
i've heard of a few LDR that have been long term, ending with a message...and i still think it's as i stated. with shorter relationships, just a couple days...type away... (it's still classier to do it in person, or via a chat on the phone)
but bottom line... when it's time to leave...just get ur done with the most self respect and respect for others that ya can muster...
Well, I've never done it myself, but I have had it done to me, so I know what it's like. In hindsight, it probably was the easiest way, and I don't hold it against her.
Better than some others that just disappear altogether, never to be seen or heard from again.

i guess folks just do the best they can...
but if you get this on your answering machine...heads up...
A little off topic but all this reminded me of this phone number that someone could give out when "out on the town" and maybe meeting some persistent drunken slobbery fool. lol. It was a "rejection hotline" and it was a local call so it looked pretty real. When the person called it they got an earful of the reasons that they did not get the actual phone number of the individual. I think it was a bit cruel but on the other hand listening to it just for the laugh was kinda funny,,,, I would have felt bad if someone would have given it to me in a actual encounter..but just the same.......
If most of the communication is done in text, I don't see the problem. I don't really see the problem anyway. Done is done, getting pissy over how we're told is just an excuse to be angry instead of dealing with the split.

Why would you assume most of the communication is via text? Were you thinking of a CS or dating site "relationship"? My OP seems to be a bit misleading. I have not and never have been digitally dumped, nor would I be interested in a digital relationship! It relates to a UK newspaper article I read yesterday.
