I actually don't understand the benefits of friend requests.
What is the purpose of them? Are there any actual benefits of having 'friends' in that sense? Most requests come from strangers, or near-strangers. I generally forget to even look at them, and then just delete in bulk as I genuinely don't see their purpose.
I do have few from early in my CS career, when I thought friending someone had a purpose, but not anymore.
Don't get me wrong, I have lots of friends on CS, and some very good friends, but not because their picture is on my profile page, but because I actually got to know them and like them.
That to me is friendship..not a practically anonymous 'friend request'.

I call friends on here those i have got on with {in a past user name , and send Reality Birthday and Christmas Cards and receive same .
And maybe fone up every few months to say hello
I know its nice to be nice , but like yourself ,the cyber stuff is a bit ? well it isnt reality is it .
