I just got about 10 teeth removed that I had left and had full new upper and lower dentures put in.For the first few days everything seemed o.k.,even though they were loose and sloppy which can initially be expected. On the 3d day I had to cough and my lowers basically got really loose,so I took them out to rinse and couldn't put them back in.The top ones seemed to fit back o.k.My bottom gums are sore and I think they're swollen.Thats probably why the bottoms don't fit.Going back to my dentist to see wtf?.Like to hear some good/bad stories about your new dentures.Cheers.

Stringman. For a full set of upper and lowers,it cost me just over $7000.00,with insurance covering $1000.00.I told my dentist, they must be made of gold at that price. He didn't like my comment.laugh

I think $8000 for dentures is rip off...way to high!!! plates I believe means partials that are possible to put when you have at least 3-5 teeth left. However, if all teeth are removed only dentures will work. You must go back to your expensive dentist and he must fix your dentures that they fit. I don't have these, but my father has. Also I think implants are much better but again might be even more expensive...Good luck! sigh

Definite rip off. My father was in that Business 50 years. He set up
Denture Therapists in Ontario, where they are Licensed to deal directly
to the public, whilst avoiding paying for a Dentists Cottage. Much
cheaper here. I do not think BC has that.

She's right, that is far too much money. I have had uppers since I was 30 but back then they were cheaper. Where I live with insurance you can find prices to be more like $75 an extraction.

(rinsing with warm salt water may help sooth the soreness a little)

Given time your bottom plate will adjust. I know it is uncomfortable but you have to try to keep them in so they will seat correctly. It will get better soon I hope.

Hello, I know that the lower arch is the hardest to work with in terms of either Dentures , partial Dentures [one or two] or even implants.
There are many reasons for this but if you look at upper arch and lower arch you'll see that the lower hasnt as much Gum and the bone shrinks with age etc., its v important that they fit as if they arenot comfy they will irritate the gum and cause all manner of problems, its easy for him to fix them if too loose or too tight... in your case too lose, ill fitting and don't let him fob you off with 'They'll settle in' if they hurt in the beginning and arenot comfortable, they will only cut into your gums. Best of luck. I lost some teeth during Snow a few years ago in a bad fall. Am saving up for implants.

Yes the cost for dentures is astronomical where I live. The medical plan which I pay into covers everything but your eyes and teeth.I don't know why as they are part of your body.So far its been a horror show with my new upper and lower dentures but with time, hopefully things will improve.I have to make payments to him so the dentist can keep his yaught afloat in Hawaii(lol).

My dad was a dentist, I remember the worse case he had was a woman who swalowlled her dentures, but everything you describe is normal .
it is an adaptation period , the universal cream to stick your dentures to your gums is Extra Corega, it is an universal medication.
for your gums I recommend massages with baking soda mixed with natural salt and coconut oil. you will be fine.
