mmm in my words I would say the opposite of fear is contentment and opposite of delusional is conscious to what's going on inside ones mind and outside,....that's the best I can do to explain I find it hard what I want to say and then put it into words, one persons reality could be another's insanity,.

The opposite of fear is love, the opposite of delusional is awareness.

The "higher consciousness" you talk of is within us all and part of us all. Attaining it is another matter, in fact most of us spend most of our lives in, at least, a mild state of psychosis.

i agree with you.thumbs up I think we all need to quiet our mind from time to time in this age of fast technology, fast pace of life,we can overdo things and to set aside some quality time for ourselves is very beneficial to our mental health, sometimes our minds get overcrowded with our thoughts.

pedro27: imo everyone has a unique reality

You wish!laugh

[Consider the catch phrase:] “It may be true for you, but it’s not true for me.” What is the meaning of the concept “truth”? Truth is the recognition of reality. (This is known as the correspondence theory of truth.) The same thing cannot be true and untrue at the same time and in the same respect. That catch phrase, therefore, means: a. that the Law of Identity is invalid; b. that there is no objectively perceivable reality, only some indeterminate flux which is nothing in particular, i.e., that there is no reality (in which case, there can be no such thing as truth); or c. that the two debaters perceive two different universes (in which case, no debate is possible). (The purpose of the catch phrase is the destruction of objectivity.)

Yes this is very true,it is how we ourselves perceive things this is what makes us unique,we all tend to believe what we are condioned to believe and it becomes factual in our mind,.

Weeeellll, let's copy and paste from the "experts" in the area.

A comprehensive analysis of research in the areas of genetics, physiology, neurology and psychology suggests that autism spectrum disorders and psychotic disorders reflect opposites in the continuum of how individuals function within a social environment. These findings have implications both for treatment and for how these disorders will be viewed and studied in the future

Ref.: Crespi B, Badcock C. Psychosis and autism as diametrical disorders of the social brain. Behavioral and Brain Sciences 2008;31(3):241-320. PAGE 10 - BULLETIN ON EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT VOLUME 8, NO 1-DECEMBER 2009professor

While different, autism and psychosis are alike in that they can manifest impaired social functioning. The source was discussing the still developing brain?

Im not sure I understand why they would be opposites except in the narrow context of clinical observation of social functioning. Kinda like that thing we were on about earlier!

I expect the article was reflecting on a social scale where there was a "normal" setting in the middle. It is a different way to look at social functioning. and just like -10 or +10 are opposites - and zero is in the middle.

hence -10 = autism, where zero = socially functioning and +10 = psychosis

dunno

thanks- I read the reference, I didnt understand their concept of social functioning. Its tragic children are harmed by these illnesses and hopefully the research will help.

and in answering Pedro's CS hypothetical and generally conversational post question - psychosis is a social function and therefore to be the opposite of psychotic is ..... really????? socially functional?

How do doctors diagnosis Bipolar illness? Sometimes it takes decades...... they witness an episode of mania. laugh
I wont even get into all the other illnesses.
They call the brain a black box.

Psychosis is a mental state not always definable, to me. Sometimes obvious, sometimes not recognizable.

Altered states?
