JeanKimberley: I think romance looks different and is very much alive - and it takes work, and thoughtfulness, and is very unique, and individual.

and also in agreement with the general sentiment of this group, the cliche' gestures like flowers and chocolates are often used as quick fixes to convey a romantic feeling and if there is no real feelings behind it - it becomes an empty gesture.

Sums it up very well JK. bouquet wave

I suggested to Joey we, the CS folk need to create a thread and play cupid for him. Find him a lovely Canadian girl (in his neighborhood) to connect with.

I just haven't figure out how to structure the thread and lure.... err invite new CS members to participate and get to know him like we have in the International threads. confused

So many looking for that sacred romance,
where your heart and mind are gripped,
wondering sometimes if to take that chance,
but scared in case others laughed as you tripped,

Within a dating site profiles anew,
recycled members and new ones about,
how many times have we had a view,
wondering if one should make the first shout,

Always we seem to have that little doubt,
so many choices from this galleried candy store,
different pictures and soulful words you want to find out,
who in this world could make you want more,

Re-map your mind and take those in view,
LadyLori who reaches out for romantic bliss,
That sweet lady KNenagh looking for love true,
Poor Ali still awaiting that true loves kiss,

That gentle lady Merriweather from the southern hemisphere,
whose prose of words can make you think indeed,
Trueheart gentle english knight who is bold and has no fear,
would he be someones true loves steed,

Far to the west is JeanKimberley enigmatic with a slight tilt,
Always dreaming of her Highland man in a kilt,
Mollybaby from the land of green,
Waiting for her true love to be seen,

Unlaoised who feels the power of love,
still awaiting her true mating dove,
South Africa lies a Cocheta who thinks chivalry is dead,
still awaiting her knight to get into her head,

If we were to take all in view,
a part of each for our romantic tryst,
all together they become a perfect hue,
if one had all of this then romance would indeed be bliss.

This is also posted in the poetry section...if I could have a little bit of you all in one person then I think I would find that one true love...

hug hug

LadyLori: I am a hopeless romantic, but I am also realistic, as it seems romance, on a whole, is dying out.
Is it so cliche now, that admitting you can be swept away by a kiss at sunset, or a trail of rose pedals leading to the bedroom, makes you seem "out of touch" with the real world?
I write romantic short stories & poetry, but rarely share them, because several in the past have told me I am silly to have this mind-set.
Am I really alone in this, or are any other of my fellow forum friends romantic?
care to share your thoughts/experience/opinions?
Thank you, in advance, for your comments.
Romance is like beauty it is in the eye of the beholder. What one finds romantic another one may not dunno It also takes chemistry. This is just from my perspective of it. Have you ever met someone and just felt at the moment in time a melting of the heart. For that moment in time there was only you and him or her. That the simplest task you did, even just going to the store felt romantic? Because you were smitten maybe and the world took on a glow. daydream

Thanks KNenagh.hug I have gone out on some dates from here, that is correct. I am currently still looking or maybe I am available sounds better.laugh At any rate I just need to be patient. I have found the opposite can lead to hasty decisions. I have to say one problem is I just don' t get out as much as I used to. Like to bars or out with friends and that' s how used to meet new people. Priorities change in life.wine

Hi joey, I also have found that when I was still raw after a break up and wanted to meet someone, I didn't make the best decisions. The more I am just enjoying myself and the less I am looking the more I am looked at. laugh

I am taking more time to go out and enjoy myself and it does make life good. Make sure you have enough time to do what you enjoy and what's good for you. hug

I am a romantic. I love the sofnes and beauty of the spoken and written word when I write a lady. But, I have also been taken advantage of and have had thousands of dollars stolen from me because of my love and my desire to be with someone. It goes straight to my heart and shreds my insides. So I cry inside and I hopefully learn. But my heart is still romantic and I continue to love with whole heart because my saying to myself is, "what are you going to do? Are you going to just sit there and shrivel up and die or are you going to pick yourself up learn from the love you've given and move on? 30 thousand plus dollars is a lot of love. My choices are mine and my life is my own. Yes, it's tough but life goes on and so I choose to love with my whole heart and share romance because it is in me. Some people say that most people on these dateing sights are scammers and gold diggers. Well, I gave away my whole lifes savings to a female on here and she stole it plus put me in dept a few more thousand. Many promises and lies and a shredded heart. Well, I have no more gold left so I guess I can get back to my love making and romantic heart and I can look on the bright side. My house is clean.
