Is romance fading out? ( Archived) (83)

Jul 7, 2014 10:15 PM CST Is romance fading out?
I am a hopeless romantic, but I am also realistic, as it seems romance, on a whole, is dying out.
Is it so cliche now, that admitting you can be swept away by a kiss at sunset, or a trail of rose pedals leading to the bedroom, makes you seem "out of touch" with the real world?
I write romantic short stories & poetry, but rarely share them, because several in the past have told me I am silly to have this mind-set.
Am I really alone in this, or are any other of my fellow forum friends romantic?
care to share your thoughts/experience/opinions?
Thank you, in advance, for your comments.

Well young lady I agree that for the most part that romance is gone. But as for your short stories and poems keep writing them several may think they are silly but 10,000 may love them .

I agree with you. Deep in my soul I am truly romantic too. But, mu impression is that people do not have time for those "little" things any more....... Busy way of life just pushed romance in second plane

Hi Lori, I don't know if romance is dying out, I'm just more of a practical person myself. I do simply like spending time together, cuddle up, be there for someone and vice versa. I do appreciate kind gestures and consideration and like to surprise my significant other on occasions.

I don't think you are out of touch at all, you have a preference for romantic guys and if someone just dismisses this as being silly, he's not the right man for you. bouquet

scold scold It is not the fault of the ladies but a complete lack of insight on behalf of the males...being more open about oneself would enable those moments to become more romantic...so many males are closed books you need to rip the pages open to find the softer romantic side...laugh

You can only expect to receive what you are willing to give yourself.

Not everyone is the same, if you always fall for the same kind of people, maybe you should look at your own choices.

Sorry, if someone can't find a suitable partner AT ALL, I have found that this is their problem and not that of ALL other people.

May I have an opposing opinion? Seeing no words to the contrary, I'll give it anyway.rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

I think romance looks different and is very much alive - and it takes work, and thoughtfulness, and is very unique, and individual.

and also in agreement with the general sentiment of this group, the cliche' gestures like flowers and chocolates are often used as quick fixes to convey a romantic feeling and if there is no real feelings behind it - it becomes an empty gesture.
