Being on dating forums/sites like this give us an wonderful opportunity to appreciate each other even though we come from different lifestyle, culture and background. However, sometimes i feel like there is always that "thin" barrier which somewhat stops us from appreciating each other. Am i wrong to think like this?

You're right. There's always a fine line, but that extends to everything in life, even with your peers. I'm not entirely sure whether the word appreciate is the right one. You can only do so much appreciation when you deal with strangers. There is so much we don't know about each other and to truly appreciate another person, you have to know them, don't you think?

Yes....i do agree that we have to know a person before appreciating him/her. Now, i was perhaps asking if we can learn only so much about a person on sites like this....i mean what things we should learn about others and what we shouldn't? Am i making some sense..?

Different, what's wrong with different Cultural differences are interesting and we can learn a lot from each other. Accept the differences, live and let live and the world could only be a better place
lol....you know kaybee, i feel like i have failed myself even though i have lived in the USA for almost 13 years as far as erasing that "thin" line of separation among ourselves....it really saddens me..

i have always believed the same like you do, but for some (and i am not complaining about them), it looks like we haven't done enough to "wake up" that interest and curiosity among them..

Just continue being the best person that you can be.
Those who are meant to be your friends will feel no separation at all.

mnowsa: But that would mean that we are risking "exclusion"(i am playing devil's advocate here..sort of) while the whole purpose actually is "inclusion"
Some you win, some you don't. At least you are trying, your heart is in the right place
Culture, race and gender are the traditional barriers, with distance helping to keep conflicts down while maintaining the differences. I think many places in the west are more culturally and racially integrated now than ever before. That is progress.

I suppose what we should learn is tolerance. I mean tolerance in the nice way, i.e. if someone is of a different culture, try to understand their viewpoint and why they are how they are. Some things you agree with, some you don't. I mean even people from the same country, culture and ethnic background don't understand each other or dislike each other, so maybe it's just a human condition?
