If given the chance I would like to be in Dallas on that Friday in November 1963 . I would also like to be equipped with a small 8mm camera as Mr. Zapruder was . The major difference is that I would be shooting ( pardon the pun ) the infamous " Grassy knoll " and of course the book depository . Now wouldn't that answer a lot of questions that have plagued us . wow wow wow

What real difference would your camera have made? We'd still have an assassinated president. Now, had you been holding an M1A Rifle (and knew how to use one) and legally pointing it around the Grassy knoll and the school book depository, I think you may have made a difference. dunno

allthegoodnamest: Yes exuse my ignorance but I'm not claiming to be an expert on all subjects but by asking shows I'm willing to learn unlike some know it alls.!!

thumbs up We all forget that everyone doesn't have our particular history of social norms, customs and knowledge.

Rosa Parks on that ride who refused to ride at the back of the bus. There were also the 3 young folk that sat at the whites only lunch counter.

In Babylonian astronomy, records of the motions of the stars, planets, and the moon are left on thousands of clay tablets created by scribes. Even today, astronomical periods identified by Mesopotamian scientists are still widely used in Western calendars such as the solar year and the lunar month.

Using these data they developed arithmetical methods to compute the changing length of daylight in the course of the year and to predict the appearances and disappearances of the Moon and planets and eclipses of the Sun and Moon. Only a few astronomers' names are known, such as that of Kidinnu, a Chaldean astronomer and mathematician. Kiddinu's value for the solar year is in use for today's calendars. Babylonian astronomy was "the first and highly successful attempt at giving a refined mathematical description of astronomical phenomena." According to the historian A. Aaboe, "all subsequent varieties of scientific astronomy, in the Hellenistic world, in India, in Islam, and in the West—if not indeed all subsequent endeavour in the exact sciences—depend upon Babylonian astronomy in decisive and fundamental ways."

So I guess I would like to witness the firs writings of human kind.... but I would not like to stay in this time period.

I do know how to use an M-1 . I was taught how in basic training . The M-16 was just starting to be the new service replacement . I also remember the problems it was having and the remedy's that finally did replace it in Nam .

As to the difference, I don't think I could have changed world events however I could at least set some of the record straight . Now as for using a service piece and waving it around , are you kidding ! ! ! ! After the first shot I would be so full of bullit holes they wouldn't need Oswald as a scape goat !

Yes you are right and I also now remember the 7.6 NATO rounds it fired ( and all the specialized ammo ) . I guess I'm getting old and a little senile . By the way that M-14 was a sweet rifle a bit heavy after carrying it all day but sweet and reliable none the less . You will also notice Sargent that I did not say " gun " . . . . . rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

PS: NO I will not get down and give you twenty ! !rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing
