lifeisadream: I have hired an accountant for my taxes and in april the 30th is the limit for my annual income tax report, everything is taken care of (well).

I try my hardest not to pay taxes (legally). I might be persuaded to be more relaxed about it if there were some accountability, but there isn't, so I'm not
Honestly, it would take me forever to do it all without an accountant and I'm not totally up to date on all the changes in the tax code. In the last 10 years, I think the gvmt didn't even know what they were doing. They changed things, then changed them back and so on several times. It's like a circus with the clowns running the show, seriously.

Here it is complicated to do the taxes too, so it is better to have an account to do it and avoid some fines later.

Exactly. That's my point. I wouldn't mind paying if I could see that the money is used wisely even if I don't agree with all uses, but it's not. Too much "disappears" and the numbers are as mysterious as the Mona Lisa's smile or perhaps insurance accounting

Once I had a fine and I requested to see the state-person in charge of the fines-depto and I got an appointment and had to go to his office a couple of times and we did discuss about taxes in other countries, one of them being Germany.
He (the chief) said that Germany pays even more taxes than us, then I said to him, I will pay the same than the Germans but you will have to provide:
To be safe (no criminals, not drug cartels, no corrupt politicians..)
Same universities, same highways.... like in Germany
Some interesting Germans as well

He was right about the amount of taxes that have to be paid, but since the EU formation, Germany is no longer a place that's safe, orderly, with an educated population. Since the formation of the EU, things have gone to hell in a hand basket. The only things that are still good is that housing is cheap and health care is very good. Education is now free for everybody, even non-citizens. Someone has to pay the bill for that generosity.PS I also never really liked the Mona Lisa
