Sannu: Can depend on your cultural upbringing.

Sannu: Some countries in Africa. In many cases the father is the head of the family, which means he will have the final say in everything that happens within a family environment. However, I am not impying such decisions are made without prior discussions, or sometimes intervention with regards to their children.
then i agree with that.....finding common ground....is not a bad thing.

Sannu.
I don't think it is a cultural thing , it just depends on who has the stronger personality in the relationship...

Can take time to navigate the mind of another to reach a level of agreement that restores balance to the family environment with regards to children.

I have found some mothers to be absolutely brutal and manipulative leaving the father at his wits end because he leans more towards the caring and nurturing side of his children.

There is a srict moral code in many families to which one must abide by, sometimes carried out by force with both parents in agreement.

In 1995, in Kenya, according to Emily Wax, Umoja, a village only for women from one tribe with about 36 residents, was established under a "matriarch". Men of the same tribe established a village nearby from which to observe the women's village, the men's leader objecting to the matriarch's questioning the culture and men suing to close the women's village. The village was still operational in 2005 when Wax reported on it.

Spokespersons for various indigenous peoples at the United Nations and elsewhere have highlighted the central role of women in their societies, referring to them as matriarchies, or as matriarchal in character.

Then surely I must be a lemon pip short of a squeeze if ones culture has nothing to do with parental relationships.
