In 1968, a submarine-usa, disappeared mysteriously somewhere South Pacific, 30 days later another submarine-ussr had in same area had same fate.
Who said USA and USSR never confronted each other face to face during cold war??? The 2 countries admitted the incident, never gave explanation whatsoever.

Several views of a Project 629A (Golf II) ballistic missile submarine K-129 was a Project 629A (NATO reporting name Golf-II) diesel-electric powered submarine of the Soviet Pacific Fleet, one of six Project 629 strategic ballistic missile submarines attached to the 15th Submarine Squadron based at Rybachiy Naval Base, Kamchatka, commanded by Rear Admiral Rudolf A. Golosov.
In January 1968, the 15th Submarine Squadron was part of the 29th Ballistic Missile Division at Rybachiy, commanded by Admiral Viktor A. Dygalo. K-129??'?s commander was Captain First Rank V.I. Kobzar. K-129 carried hull number 722 on her final deployment during which she sank on 8 March 1968. It was one of four mysterious submarine disappearances in 1968; the others being the Israeli submarine INS Dakar, the French submarine Minerve (S647) and the US submarine USS Scorpion (SSN-589). The Soviet Navy deployed a huge flotilla of ships to search for her but never found her wreck. The United States attempted to recover the boat in 1974 in a secret cold war-era effort named Project Azorian.
The vessel's position 4.8 kilometres (3.0 mi) below the surface was the greatest depth from which an attempt had been made to raise a ship. The cover story used was that the salvage vessel was engaged in commercial manganese nodule mining.

the usa did recover part of the soviet sub/it was a CIA ops camouflaged as looking for oil part of the soviet remains was given a navy style bury was filmed by Americans and a copy of that burial was given to the soviets. I can't remember the name of the guy in charged of this operation he was an industrialist film maker, millionair and working for CIA, can you come up with his name?

It's a bit daft having a complex cover story, if they told the Ruskiesall about it after

the soviet already knew/while usa doing opration soviets were
watching close on their ships/the usa rescue ship had a name, I'm trying to recover my memory and like I said both admitted those incidents and the theory is a 2nd usa sub came and hunted and sank the other soviet sub/just a theory/but plausible?

Submarines are somewhat drunk sometimes ,, they bang on anything, even on small fishermen's boat ,, and they go away as fast as they can so nobody noticed their presence ,,,

None of the subs were sunk by other subs. They have all been located and nuclear warheads on all of them were recovered versus leaving them around for some salvage guy to claim.
The Soviet Golf class sub off the coast of Hawaii, K129 may have been part of a rogue KGB element (who had suddenly replaced many of the regular crew) attempting a first strike on the US. There are several books about this theory. It seems what sunk her was someone didn't unlock the missile hatch when an attempt was made to launch a nuke. Boom, sink. Was it a screw up by the new crew? Was is an accident? Was it an unknown Hero blocking a nuclear war? No one will ever know.
